Not going to lie. The part about the white line and the hornet’s nest made me rofl hard. I do agree that there are 2 sides to every coin, and i know that a cop’s job is very far from easy. Always under constant scrutiny, always under stress, always worried about some douche bag shooting at you. But i think that carnut is right and that they probably should go to psych evaluations annually. If not for any other reason than their own safety/sanity/career.
The funny part about LO is that theyr attitudes vary from place to place. Example:
In 95-99 i lived in Niagara falls…as in the middle of the fucking ghetto. I was a douchy wigger. Strangely enough even to this day I have no record, and i have kept my nose clean all my life (despite some fun street racing escapades from when i lived in TO).
We had just moved to a new apartment. I got a page from this chick I was messing around with at the time. Now we had just moved so the phone in the house wasnt turned on yet (I just remembered how much house phones suck). Well its like 12:30AM and me and my buddy took a walk across the street to DQ to use the pay phone. Well just as we are crossing the street we see a group of kids run across the street and continue to run to down a poorly light one way street. All of the sudden a police car speeds down the street (going the wrong way) with the lights on. He pretty much stopped the car in front of us, hopped out with his hand on his gun (not a big deal to me really)and orders to see our hands. We comply, and I start to tell him that we just got out of my house literally like less then 2 minutes ago, saw some people run past us and that he literally just drove past them. Well Mr Officer didnt like that because in a matter of a split second the beam from his flash light blinked and next thing I know the asshole sucker punched me and slammed me off of the hood of his car. My buddy at this point was just standing there all quiet but Mr Officer decided to order me to keep my head on the car and slammed my buddies head off of the car and cuffed him. Told him to sit on the curb then proceeded to ask me how I know he was after somebody. I said " Well its midnight and you were going the wrong way down a one way street with your lights on. I doubt you were doing that for fun."
Well out came Mr Night stick to say hello to the inside of my knee. Well that caused my knee to buckle and my weight to shift so I sort of almost slid off of the hood of the car. Well after that I was told to stop resisting and my other knee met Mr Night stick. I got cuffed and sat on the curb. YAY FUN!!! 1 other cruiser pulled up and the guy hoped out with the enthusiasm of a drill sergeant. At this point the 2 cops were keeping an eye on us and talking amongst themselves while walking back and forth from their cruisers with our ID’s. I was asked why I claimed to live across the street when my DL said that I lived elsewhere. I told the guy that I literally just moved in across the street a few days ago and handnt had a chance to go to the DMV yet. Cop 2 accepted that answer. Well at this point my nose had stopped bleeding and and I spat out a bloody booger (in the total opposite direction of the cops). Well cop 1 didnt like that because he walked the few feet from his car to me and tried feeding me his boot. That was fun too. So after wasting a good 45 minutes of my life cop 3 pulls up with some witnesses that are there to Identify us. The witnesses tell them that we werent the guys that caused the ruckus at their house and we were released. Cop one reluctantly uncuffs us, tells me that im lucky he isnt booking me for resisting arest, and that im free to go. Now at no point did he say that i was under arrest but whatever. I still got laid that night so cock blocking cops 0 me 1! lol I can go on and on with similar stories (mostly falls based) but im too lazy to type them all up and the wife is riding my ass to finish our bathroom sooo…
I guess the point im trying to make is that its cops like that that give a bad name to the good ones out there, and whos to say that cop 1 wouldnt have used the hornets nest excuse to fuck me and my buddy up “legally”
Many years ago when my buddy told me that he was going to be a cop I laughed at him, and told him that he is too much of a spaz to be one, i reminded him of how he picked on me when a few years prior I told him that I wanted to be one (im still not a cop) Well i guess he was serious about it and when he got his shield me and my other friends threw him a surprise party. We talked for a bit and he told me that he requested to be assigned to the shittyest station in the City (Toronto). I told him that he would turn into an asshole but if he is serious then he should probably try to earn the local peoples respect. I never thought that that advice would help the guy out. But strangely enough it did. Not going to elaborate but it has apparently saved his life more then once.
I think that cops tend to get themselves in trouble when they believe that their shield guarantees them respect in a neighborhood where it is more then likely to be a bulls eye vs a symbol of respect and they start pushing their weight around. Thats when you start seeing videos like the ones that started this thread. Yes the media portrays shit the way they want the message to come across and sometimes a PO gets the raw end of the deal but lets face it, LE does the same. I still say that a cop has no business in a regular jail, if they get in trouble they should be put in a special “cop prison” with other cops, and not with the same people that they put in there. Long story short. A friend of mine got in a fight with some DB in a downtown club a few years ago. He was the one defending himself. Well he also was the one that got arrested by the cops and got his ass beat by them even though he was complying with them, all because Le “heard” that he was involved in a fight. A supervisor came up and asked around about what had happened. He talked to my buddy and gave him 2 options (buddy had threatened to sue. bitch move i know). He told him that he could either go home and forget about all that had happened that night, or that he could be arrested for assault, spend the night at the station and try his luck in court. Mind you there were plenty of witnesses that backed my buddy’s story up, and saw him comply to the fullest.
my buddy took option 1 and went and slept in his own home that night. That supervisor in my opinion is a good cop even though in a way he covered up some BS actions. Even though the other 2 cops were in the wrong, he managed to defuse a shit situation, and pretty much everyone went home happy.
Just so you know, bullets don’t always kill… that’s the reason NYS Troopers carry .45 caliber instead of .40 because a few years ago, a trooper pumped rounds into a bad guy, and the bad guy still managed to fire back and kill a trooper even while rittled with bullet holes.
Another case down south, a swat team member shot a guy 14 times in the chest with a .223 AR-15 and the guy was still advancing…so he took a head shot.
There was just a case in L.A where an ICE agent went postal and shot up his office… one guy survived after getting shot 6 times. Just sayin’ 1 or 2 bullets doesn’t ever stop someone.
As I will say again and again, many of those videos are bad, but some are justified… also you’d be surprised what a handcuffed suspect can still managed to do while everyone THINKS he is subdued.
They already have them in some countries. Cali cops roll with ar’s and various other long range weapons deppending on where they are stationed. That bank robbery in LA a few years back saw to that. Some cops in TO also have MP5’s as well as other toys in their cruisers.
About time if you ask me though. A state trooper in the middle of a field can be vastly outgunned by an asshole with a 308 bolt action from a 100 yards away.
To sedlemiers point. I remember hearing something in the news about a decade ago where a suspect was charging at police officers with a machette after hacking some people up. 30 shots of various caliber ammo and one head shot later he was subdued. Aparently he was on some pain killers or something. ( I can’t remember the exact name of the stuff they said he was on)
Its amazing how much damage a human body can take. Specially when you throw pain killers in the mix.
Or PCP.
We carry full auto M4s and UMP 40s. No point in carrying a pump shot gun and a pistol when the opposition has ak-47s and other such assault rifles.
The greatest thing about this country is our freedoms… which include owning which ever type of firearm we wish… so there is no reason why LEOs shouldn’t be able to carry the same or better.
also .223>>>7.62x49 ESPECIALLY at distances greater than 100 yards.
what can be taken out of this is, there are dbags and assholes in every single type of profession… law enforcement tends to attract a lot more because the type of people interested in LE are your alpha male types…mix that with dealing with shitbags every single day of your life… the job taking a toll on your marriage and family life due to long hours, changing schedules, risk of the job, losing good friends who are coworkers because of some shitbag who hates cops, decided to kill one ETC ETC, it’s easy to see why excessive force happens… There is no excuse for it at all, but that is why it happens.
I remember seeing the video of Graber soon after it went online… I did not know that he got hit with felonies and got his house raided for wiretapping!!!
The one I’m talking about is the motorcycle video where the plain clothes officer comes at him with gun drawn.
LOL at the video Don posted… I find it funny how some of the cops see their buddies start to get beat, then run away and don’t bother helping them.
The first part of this statement is wrong. Most people who become cops have a military backround, or you need a degree to get the job. This job is hardly with the money but most of us enjoy everyday of work. You never know if you get to save a life or have a bad day.
95% of you guys here could not do this job. Monday morning quarter back all you want. Untill you you are fighting a guy with a razor blade in his mouth, a knife in his hands or even a gun. You really dont know the stress that is involved. Everyday we go to work we wonder if we will make it home to our wives, or kids that night.
What about fighting with a person who is bleeding. That person has HIV, Aids Hep a,b or any other nasty crap that tranfers from body fluid. I am willing to bet none of you have never been allowed to not kiss you gf, wife, kids, becuase you got blood in an open cut or your mouth for that matter. Now you could have aids and not know for the next 6 month or longer. Because the guy that just spit blood all over you does not need to tell you if he has any diseases. The Laws allow him to not tell us if he does.
You say the video does not lie, but it does. You can not see hands or what is in ones mouth. Is to much force sometimes used. To you who has never been in any real fight for your life it might be. To me it is what i had to do to make it home to my familly and get another pos off the streets so you can not get your house broken into, your kids molested or wife raped.
Clubbing a hand cuffed perp. Does not have any effect on whether or not you made it home. As stated, your job as law enforcement is to enforce laws not punish suspects.
