lol, sorry, I didnt mean to step on your speculation with a statement from a Honda spokesperson, carry on
the epic downfall in sales came gradually as the car was produced for TEN YEARS, ~double the average lifespan. the economy really tanked the numbers as it has with almost every car.
The looks of the car need a change also. An AP3 model can definitely resurrect the project. However, in its current state they just need to let it die.
I mean, its business decisions like that which made Toyota one of the best auto manufacturers around (as far as bottom line goes). Honda is just following suit.
i dont really see anything at all with the s2k in the looks department. i think every company should have a car that will appeal to everyone and is still reasonably attainable for the everyday enthusiast
nissan = 350z
subaru = sti
mistu = evo
toyota = fail
honda =??? should still be s2k. fuck the civic type r, did they do away with the rsx-s? im not really up to speed with anything 01+ lol
You know that’s misleading. It has to be the fleet average, so if they can sell a high mileage subcompact, it will be used to offset a lower-mileage sports-car or truck.
Needs more displacement on demand and weight reduction, like I said in the other thread. Give me a V8 RWD sports car that’s 2,600 pounds, and displacement on demand, and you can get good mileage on the highway.
Sad Sad day. The s2k will go down in history as one of the greatest cars of all time. Perhaps its limited run will solidify its place in automotive history.
Here’s the problem, the auto industry is struggling. On top of that struggle we’re now piling on these new emissions requirements. That means they have to find the money for massive R&D, without passing the cost onto the customer because the customers aren’t buying as it is. Something has to give and it’s going to be the low profit enthusiasts vehicles that sell in smaller numbers than the “transportation appliances”.
The days of 2600lb cars are over, unless you want to cut back on federal safety mandates. The curb weight of the current Miata is over 2500lbs and that’s a tiny 4 cyl 2 seater.
