It's official, Paladino v Cuomo for NYS governor

Cuomo isn’t giving the typical tax and spend party line…his main item on the economic agenda is a property tax cap. How is that welfare state-like?
And if I’m Cuomo, I debate Crazy Carl once a week, in different locales in the state, from now until the election. With that much time in front of a mic, he’s bound to piss plenty of people off.

I think there are more people like Paladino in this state then aren’t. At least anywhere other than NYC.

I don’t like some of his ideas but if it means more jobs and less bs from Albany, I’d vote for him, if I voted.

I’m just talking about what he’s done in the past. The work he did for the poor while working for his dad in the 80’s and then as HUD secretary in the 90’s makes me think he’ll bring more of the same altruistic help-the-poor attitude that’s bankrupted the state. Don’t get me wrong, he’s done good things in those positions too. But he kind of smells like more of the same.

You mean how he helped the poor when he was at HUD by pushing them into mortgages they couldn’t really afford, leading to the housing collapse?

Yeah, that.

It’s amazing Cuomo is even a viable candidate having something like that on his resume. Anywhere other than politics that would be a career ending move.

It’s like saying, “Hi, I’m the engineer who designed the o-rings on Challenger’s external fuel tanks, want to hire me?”

Now that’s more like it.
The Siena poll has Cuomo at 57 percent, Paladino at 24 percent and Conservative Rick Lazio picking up what pollsters called 8 percent of an “anti-Cuomo vote.” Ten percent had not decided or offered no opinion.

I am having a hard time with this one… On one hand, I think Paladino is a scumbag (not based on media, but people who have worked with him), but I also think he really cares about Buffalo, even if he is a lunatic. I fundamentally opposed his views on abortion, gay marriage, and the stupid mosque thing, but I am looking past them for the time being because I think electing him will do more for Buffalo than electing Cuomo. I also think some of his views are pretty contradictory based on his long history of receiving corporate welfare. Regardless - if our choices are a lunatic from Buffalo and a career politician from downstate, I think I’m going to have to vote Paladino.

The one thing I can respect about Carl is his willingness to just speak his mind, even if it might offend some people.

And today’s Paladino update.

Sheldon Silver tells a Jewish newspaper in NYC that “New Yorkers should consider moving out of state if Paladino wins”.

Paladino’s response:

Sheldon Silver told the Jewish Week newspaper that New Yorkers “should consider moving out of state” if Paladino wins the race for Governor.

In response, Paladino instructed his campaign manager Michael Caputo to buy Silver a one-way train ticket to Washington, D.C. “because after Carl Paladino wins in New York, the only place that will hire him [Silver] is the Obama Administration.” says Caputo.

Caputo says the $75.00 Amtrak train coach ticket is waiting for Silver at will-call at the Albany train station. Scheduled departure from Albany is November 3rd, 2010 at 4:50 a.m. with a transfer in New York City before arriving in Washington, D.C. at 11:25 a.m. The Albany departure is less than 24 hours after Election Day.

Touche salesman.

lol

A new Marist poll in New York finds Andrew Cuomo (D) leading Carl Paladino ® by a large margin among likely voters, 52% to 33%, with Conservative party candidate Rick Lazio at 9%.

Yep…Looks like that Quinnipiac poll was a fluke.

Not so fast. Look at the 9% for Lazio. I expect he’s going to drop out next week under pressure that if he doesn’t he’ll never hold a post higher than dog catcher, and most if not all of that 9% will go to Paladino.

Could be, or he might just say to hell with it though and stay in since he already has the Con line locked up.
Also, my understanding is those are mostly downstate “Not Cuomo or Paladino” voters. A lot of them will probably just end up not voting if he does drop out, or voting for another 3rd party

Lazio will stay in costing Paladino the win then switch to Democrat and they will reward him for his work.

Kinda like Obama?

I voted Paladino.

No, not at all actually

If you say so. Have you ever watched the interviews of people standing in line to vote for Obama durring the election? yeah they have no fucking clue what he was about. Just that he is HALF black. (babysteps yo). But hey, Obama money for all.

There were an equal number of rednecks who did the exact opposite, voted against him because he was HALF black. And a muslim. And not from the US. But hey, racism and lies for all.

Lazio is out.

It’s not too hard to read the future when dealing with career politicians. Lazio will want to run for something in the future and if he wants to do it with Republican backing he had to back out of this race.
