Dan was busy designing custom parts and systems, as well as building high-3 and 4-digit horsepower engines that have yet to blow up.

Ever.

Though I suppose I could cash in my chips and go back to dwelling on that Mitsubishi 3000GT Manual I never got back… Its never too late you know. :deadhorse:

well since you want to bring it up, lets get this all out in the open. your bs claim of never blowing up a motor? guess who blew up my 3000gt. you. incase you forgot let me refresh your memory.

you came over to the garage as my friend will and i were working on getting the motor ready for install. will put the oil pan on, and you were pretty animate about there NOT being enough rtv on the pan, even tho it looked fine. you removed the pan, and put more rtv on it, even tho it wasnt necessary. fast forward to less than 300 miles later, and guess what happens. the motor spins a rod bearing. MULTIPLE rod bearings, one so bad that it completely disintegrates.

wanna take a wild guess at the culprit? the oil pickup, is almost COMPLETELY covered in orange strands of rtv. i’d say the cost of that manual (which was torn to shreds btw when you gave it to me, it didn’t even have covers) is FAR less than all the money you cost me from blowing that motor. go fuck yourself

Um, this is the first I have ever heard of this one, nice try though. I dont even remember taking off the pan myself? All I did was check the timing. I never TOUCHED that engine otherwise. Considering this was 7 years ago, I would think I would have heard THIS one before?

I fucking HATE RTV, I would not have told you to do that shit. And there is also no way I would have put it together without cleaning off the old crap first.

So no, go fuck YOURself. I cant believe you would even try to pin that shit on me, considering I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, and you know damn well all I did was check the timing for you as a favor- I didnt even have work clothes on when I came out there, so I sure as shit wouldnt have been fucking around with an oil pan. I recall that day pretty well, and what you are saying is utter BS… get your memory checked.

lol thats the best you can do? and its the first time you’ve heard it because i don’t get caught up in petty bullshit like you do, but since you kept pushing your finally gonna get the real story. so like it or not, you did it, and you can deny it but i know for a fact that it was you and distinctly remeber that night after you left will was going on about how big of a tool you were by being so anal about the oil pan.

Sorry, still dont recall touching the oil pan. If I told you guys to seal it up and you didnt bother to clean it out resulting in the above, that has nothing to do with me no matter how you slice it.

LOL, the best I can do? how am I supposed to respond to some bunk claim that is 7 years old I have never heard about before, when I know damn well I didnt actually do the work?

Even if the RTV was LOADED on- when tightened down, there wouldnt be strands of it floating around, they would still be stuck to the sides, and SURELY not come loose in 300 miles. Sounds to me like you forgot to clean it out dipshit!

And how exactly does this qualify as “blowing a motor” to begin with? this sounds to me like YOU did sloppy work, then found it convenient to make me the scapegoat, without ever even telling me.

PS- Did you forget you had an oil pressure gauge and idiot light? How about the fact that 3KGT’s spin bearings left and right to begin with? SHIT ENGINE maybe?

YOUR THE ONE WHO TOOK THE PAN OFF, PUT MORE RTV ON IT, AND REINSTALLED THE PAN how dumb are you and read what is posted

wow now THIS is a first, ive never seen jay like this

IN!

Fuck it. I’m out for a while. I need to go rebuild my faith in humanity

I seriously think you are confusing me with someone else fuckwad. All I touched was the timing. In fact, give me a few minutes and I bet I can dig up an OLD post of yours that probably says just that!

and this is why its pointless to do shit like this, “he said she said” bullshit…but hey, i know what happened, and i’m sure people know me well enough that they know i don’t make shit like this up. you can deny it all you want, i know it happened.

This thread has everything I could want in a hate thread!

i have never seen jay mad this is interesting but lets take the high road and not argue

LOL, I wonder, could maybe the reason that NOBODY has ever mentioned this be the fact that;

  1. It didnt happen quite like you say?
  2. It didnt happen at all?
  3. You were never sure what happened, but found it convenient today?

Am I the only one who finds it odd that we were “friends” for that time and a LONG time after… yet I/no one ever heard about this as far as I know? You didnt get on my case up until a year or two ago for whatever reason.

And in the end, it all boils down to this:

  1. Its a notoriously bad engine when it comes to rod bearings
  2. RTV doesnt “Shred” by itself… that happens when its scraped off and NOT CLEANED OUT
  3. You have an oil pressure gauge AND an idiot light. Apparently you either proved yourself an idiot, or there is just a little more to this story.

so now your just gonna resort to calling me a liar? :blah:

when you put so much rtv on a pan, that all the excess falls into the oil pan, you get exactly what happened. i’m not arguing the fact that the engine sucks, why do you think i got out of that game? its HOW they bearings failed, which isn’t typical fashion as you would know as well. you also know that a stock oil pressure gauge is far from accurate, even if i was watching it 24/7 things happen fast and no one would have been able to catch that in time.

so again, like i’ve already said a couple times in the past 5 minutes, whatever bs you try to spout on here to make yourself look better, i know what happened, and i watched you do it.

Thats all fine and good… the only problem is, that I dont remember it quite like you do. I recall WILL doing the pan work, while I was doing the timing! If only UBRF was back, I could dig up the old post where YOU POSTED that Will was pissed off that I took so long to do the TIMING. Not the Pan, the TIMING.

Spout all YOU want, but it doesnt add up that NO ONE has ever heard of this for SEVEN YEARS, including ME, the one who supposedly fucking did it! Considering I was in the 3000GT parts business then, wouldnt it have made sense to tell me what had supposedly happened so I could have made it right? Uh… HELLO?

Its real easy to make an unprovable accusation seven years later, isnt it?

(has anyone else realized that this thread went in the exact direction I predicted? I should be a fucking psychic)

legitimate business owners (cough…cough…) arguing, oh yeah thats right neither are.
Public Service message–> little advice for youngins that might not know better-- Dont give any money to a shop that doesnt have a green sign posted out front. cause when something goes wrong (and it will) it will be tough to get your money back. And if you can’t even trust them to do the right(and legal) thing and register the shop why would you trust them to work on your pride and joy.

The man has a point.

i beg to differ, my friends know, and have known… look its not that hard to follow. i didn’t go bitching to you because you came out to help, i didn’t pay you to do anything. thats not me, i chalked it up as a learning experience to not cheap out on “bigger” jobs. and yes, you did do the timing, thats the whole reason why you were there. seriously, i’m done with this… you wanted a response to the manual, you got one, and don’t ever bring it up again
