Japan 8.9 quake - Tsunami

Not saying they are directly related, just saying it all has a part right? I mean, people complaining that our fish has mercury in it, global warming affecting water levels and the frequency of hurricanes and such. I’m not saying that we are the cause of all of this, just saying that we play a part and i think a lot of people are starting to realize the effects of what we do on a daily basis.

And no I’m not saying that we (or some crazy government scheme) caused the earthquake. That would be crazy talk.

I’m just saying that we do affect a lot of things we would rather not have to deal with.

People that think nuclear power is mega dangerous need to die.

This doesn’t help.

Guarantee this sets back any plans the US had for new plants.

well what do you expect to happen with a 8.9 quake that was in the ocean?

huge shift if plates causes big tsunami causes mass power outages causes nuclear plant problem because they cant cool it and tsunami also causes businesses/houses being washed away.

how is that combination anything but expected??

OMG. I never thought of that… Numbers. They all have… Numbers! Wait, Arabic numbers, to be exact. Arabs. Muslims! Muslims caused this!

Oh and if you interperet the Bible literally you are lazy. That passage doesn’t mean that Jesus himself is going to walk the Earth again when there are wars and earthquakes (which have been happening continuously since he died.) It means that his spirit of love and compassion and hope will and should always come quickly to those in dire need, so when you are in need hang in there and help will come.

^^ too true.

By golly your right! Now Chile earthquake. February 27, 2010

27-11th day = 16 - 4 big disasters = 12. FUUUUUUUUU 12 as in 2012? FUUUUUUUU What does it all mean?:fu: This shit is getting real!

Word. Also I read that the country is going so far beyond expectations in conserving energy since this started, based on the request from the government to do so, that they’ve managed to avoid blackouts from supply. You know that in the US asking people to stop using their big-screens, coffeepots, and swimming pools for awhile to help their neighbors, especially in different regions of the country, would be an exercise in futility.

It is a Natural disaster that happened and the related damage from said disaster. A small scale disaster compared to many of our history at that.

Pink = All related, common to happen amongst each other. Fact based opinion with references already posted.
Green = Man made, this is a risk we have when we make things, also really just news at this point not a disaster.
Purple= This happens whenever there is a large disaster anywhere, it really does. Also being hyped by news, Japan will be fine economically(well as good as they were) outside of the immediate short term.
Talking about in bold = To show that most of what you are reading is just that, talk; it is news and every news/media outlet is scrambling to print anything related to this that will attract readers.

^ Says the guy with the highest electric bill on NYSpeed…

is everyone taking this in…

09/11/01 (NY) 01/11/10 (Haiti) and 03/11/11 (Japan)…

09+11+01+01+11+10+03+11+11 = 68 :fu: we almost got a 69 out of all of this.

I don’t think he is surprised at the chain of events. He is looking for a similar situation from which the impact and fallout can be determined. Basically, looking for a history lesson, if one exists.

you joke stealer

Like a big earthquake devastating Japan??? Like one that killed 130,000 people? Happened

Possibly similar ecologically, but missing the nuclear and economic impact.

If we were at risk of nuclear meltdowns I would lower the hot tub to 85 or so and only drink the free coffee at work. Also I would use the LED TV more since it’s energy star and not the 73" DLP. Shared sacrifice, ya know?

LOL you expect an exact replica to learn and understand how this will possibly play out?

Also to correct you that is only missing nuclear.

Because Japan 1923 was an economic power comparable to what it is today? LOL

And I’m not the one wanting to see anything, just explaining what I think Bing was saying, since no one else seemed to get it.

I understand what Bing was trying to say. Just think that he is letting the news and his immagination romanticise the importance of the correlation. It is unique for certain, just not any more disastrous then plenty of them before.

How can you say the economic outcome of this? I assure you it is simply a short term dip in the already continuing cycle of economics in Japan. This is far from an economic disaster for them in the long term. Nothing changed fundamentally and bad fundamentals are what provokes economic instability/disaster. I don’t care what big scary numbers the news outlets toss round.

Wonder if the guy in the minivan who hauled ass out of there as the water was coming in made it to high ground.
