Job offer negotiations?

Congrats. When do you start?

good work.

i learned alot in my last salary negotiation, always reject first offer, leverage others against each other, etc.

i have another salary negotiation in the next month to worry about.

I’m not going to work at Moog.
They have not made any decisions yet.

I Should be starting at Praxair on or around the 14th.

If I play my cards right, I could manage to consult and do
my old job for a few hours a week and get much more $$.

Congrats! Sounds like you are satisfied with the financial part of your new job.

I’m kinda glad I don’t have to go through this crap anymore. Getting paid Full Commision can work out pretty nicely. The terms are the same for all employees, and you just work your ass off.

x…

Its never enough money, but more money along with a
whole lot of new stuff that I have to learn will be nice.

The main justification for moving is personal growth.

truth

You’re working with some real engineering icons too. You’ve got a great knowledge base to learn from.

Tim Aaron designed the BASIC OIU in like 1995. Hopefully I’ll be the one to finally replace it with a web server by the end of this year.

Shoot me a message when you start.

LOL @ “So, what would it take for you to stay?”

What number do you have in mind etc…

All I could say was that there was no way I was going to
give a number because the 1st offer is rejected by default…
Thanks NYspeed…

Haha. When I told my boss I was taking a job at Praxair his response was

“Shit, I’m not even going to try and match it. I’m sure it’s better than I can do.”

Praxiar will NYSpeed’s new Derrick… ?

That was my old jobs initial response…then I was getting progressively larger offers from my boss up until the day I actually left.

Taking a counter offer is almost always a bad idea

really? why?

You have given up the last of your power to your boss.

Now its up to him to let you go when it fits his project work or timeline.

There are always exceptions to the rule, but its a once in a career deal.

So I was just over in R&D looking at the ceramic oxygen membranes they’re playing with. Is that going to be your gig?

They kept showing me the steam/methane hydrogen skid.

We walked though the labs to see some of the other stuff.
The bench top O2, and some ceramic stuff.

That was not Tims project, so he could not expand on it much.
Rich mentioned that he hopes I stay in that job for a year or two…
LOL 1000% the opposite of my current boss.

OT:i always read your username as drunkD

lol
drv nkd seemed funnier 7 years ago.

Fail.
Lesson: Get detailed medical plan info early. (If you care about such things)

ex. my projected medical expenses will more than negate my increase in salary.
80% after the deductible is not good coverage for a family :(.

I will miss my $35 copays that as of yesterday morning I thought were terrible.
The info I was given was only on the premiums, I ASSUMED that it was going to be better that my current coverage.

So… my old boss wants me to go back on saturday mornings for just over 2x my old base rate.

Do I still reject the 1st offer.
an extra $200/week would really help my suckage.
