i don’t think jim wants to spend the money it would cost to have a shop build the kind of kit that i’m building for him. the only reason i’m building this is because over the past few years, jim is one of the few that has always given me a helping hand when i needed it, so i owe it to him. not to mention, some of the shops i wouldn’t use. others that qualify fit into that, “dont have money to give them” category. and a good quality build takes more than a week. take into account my 50hr+ weeks + on the road 2-3+ nights a week, plus my car is just a rolling chassis etc etc etc… i’m willing to help as much as i possibly can on this, but on the same token, jim’s going to want to drive his car as soon as the good weather hits. that probably wouldn’t happen if the car comes apart right now for this. so i think we’ll play it day by day for now
FYI, “kits” or “builds” of the same “caliber” of mine in the LS1 world done at reputable shops usually equate to $5-10k+ in labor alone. Of course, Jim’s setup won’t require quite as much fab as mine due to the fact the many of the components are smaller in physical size, but still… A lot of work goes into it, and these people are running businesses. Time is money, and people don’t work for free
I didn’t mean anything rude by it, it’s just that I have seen so many “projects” aborted that were never anything more than pictures of purchased parts, myself included (round 2 of my 240sx build)
yeah i know, this honestly wouldn’t take THAT much time compared to other people’s builds, its just trying to find the time to do it as well as juggling other people’s projects in one shop with limited space and one lift.
thanks! yeah we shall see, i will probably get bored mid summer like last year and want to start working on it. As you know the most fun of the season is over by the 4th of july
