Don’t know how I missed this, very cool! My favorite part has to be the garden hose though!
i believe mike almost usually paints the engine bay black? idk tho:bloated:
por 15.
sweet thread… your projects move alot faster than most project cars on this board
 I cant figure out if that’s sarcasm or not!
Stupid project cars…
Anyway, not much in terms of visual progress.
Spent a ton of time drilling out every bracket on the firewall, frame rails, and remaining bits of the engine bay. Ground most of them down flat, removed the battery tray, finish chemically stripping the engine bay, etc. I now need to go back over the engine bay with a wire wheel to get the remaining crap. The rubber steering bushing is being sent out to have an aluminum version made, the old one was quite hard and brittle. Basically need to go back and weld up all the holes and divots from drilling the brackets off, and tack in the crossmember with the engine test fit. That’s my scatterbrained order of things right now. Hopefully I’ll have everything collected to be welded this week and I can get that tacked in with Christian’s help and it can go over to PMP to have the finish work on the welds done.
One photo for today with the engine bay mostly torn down.
This thing is going to be amazing when done. Hopefully I will get to see some smokey burnouts :pimp:
schwing–definitely going to be one of if not the best 240s in the area. keep up the great work mike.
–what ever happened to the bimwagon?
RB26det is all you need. lol Or a vg35de would be cool too.
so what is this, chopped liver?
haha just kidding
Can’t wait to see this in person. Love the old Datsun’s :carnut
Another one of those moments where you just say to yourself… “WHAT THE %#$ing @!*& have I done!”
Working on cutting out floor/rust/stock seat brackets, the very tip of the frame rail, etc, etc. Floors are obviously here, and the crossmember shows up tomorrow for the KA24DE. Hoping to get the passenger’s floor fitted over the next day or so, and tacked in maybe this weekend.
Started working on fitment, need to do a bit of trimming/bending but it’s coming alonge
Don’t worry about getting it to sit in there perfect. As long as the bottom is correct, we will mate the edges with a hammer as we move around the edge w/ the welder. They are VERY malleable. Just cut the floor so that there is a 1/2" to 1/4" overlap and i can take care of the rest.
:mamoru:
PS:
after seeing how rotted that floor is…i might feel a bit uncomfortable sitting passenger side…looks like you’ll have to let me drive it when it’s finished
not bad. i had a beater golf that the floor ended up like that. i used the door skin from an old ford van and some hammering to get it to fit. should be cake with actual floorpans.
Brian
its definitely coming along, cant wait to see it when its done
So Mike, I know you love HIDs… I found this pic of a 240 at the Z car festival in Tochigi, Japan. Apparently, the Infinity Q45 multi-element, “Brightest production headlights ever” fit quite nice in the stock housings:
Josh, those look to out there for me. I’m using a myriad of German parts from Mercedes and BMW
Reverse-Newman. ILI.
