its funny cuz just the other day i was wondering what it would be like to turbo my moms 97 escort wagon (the car i use to deliver for wings) …that car is 5spd though…
do et!!!
i might just do it…something broke on the car the other day…i think the starter might have went…my mom said that that might be it for the car and she might get rid of it…i told her that ill take the car…so she said “so you can have 3 cars that dont work?!” i told her that i would fix it…and she said well thats what you said about the other 2! (i have this problem called add…lol i get in the middle of something (projects on cars)) and i lose concentration/focus/interest…thats how i started drivin moms car for work in the first place! lol
p.s. the car has 203xxx miles on it…thing ran abso-fuckin-lutely beautiful…no noises from anywhere…sooo smooth …AND original clutch! probably runs better than half the cars on this forum…:ahh:rofl
Well, I took it to the Valley last Weds night and man do I need some practice launching this. I will not make excuses but I did run a 14.94 at 91. Speaking with Jason, I need to practice building up the boost prior to launch. A few other witnesses said my launches were rough. The car seemed to run well at the track and after my last Albany to Jersey and back run ( Yesterday - 400 miles in 5-1/2 hours - piss, gas and Mickey D stops included ) the car seems solid. Tranny feels super solid so hats off to J and Gearhead for the excellent rebuild. All in all I can’t complaint as it was my first time ever at a track to race. I’ll be back at the track in a week or so to see if I can improve.
sweet! good to hear!
After being dormant for a couple months here is the latest. Two weeks ago I took the car over to J for a quick check up after 5K. After a few tweaks, it seemed to be running better then ever. I was feeling pretty good about it so I decide to head up to the Valley to see if I could run better than 14.9. Well a funny thing happened on the way. Apparently other cars are immoveable objects. Minor body damage, grill radiator, bumper, hood, lights. Good news is FMIC not even touched, turbo piping is fine and the tranny cooler and cage that Pete put on sheared off during the impact and was just sitting on top of the engine with out a scratch! More positives, I now have a new CF hood. If all goes well I will get it back tomorrow and will see what the car will run. If not tomorrow, then next week. Since it will be all clean from the body shop, I’ll take some pics of all the work that J at Gearhead has done and post it up here.
Ugh I never had isues w/ f2, shitty luck on your end bro
^^^ f2 is garbage man. trust me on this one.
We tried very hard to work with F2 but there were too many issues and I was unsure if they would ever be resolved. I glad you had better luck.
F2 was nothing but a giant jerkoff session
Seriously the difference between F2 and FS was like night and day.
Like pete said its garbage.
Whats the weight on that car? a 14.9 seems very slow for what the car should do, base on the parts list on page 1. GL on getting that running better at the track.
I’ll get a new weight on it and get back to you. Next time I run I anticipate much better times. Some of the tweaks that were done include sealing an exhaust leak which was robbing power. Since I am practically deaf ( Ask J at Gearhead to fill you in ) J and I think I had the leak last time I was at the track. All buttoned up now\ and the car pulls much harder. However, I still feel that I need better hook up at the launch to get better times, simply inexperience. Either this up coming or the following Weds I’ll try again.
You are absolutely correct!!! FS has been stellar.
KKKUstom, one more thing. The cams have effected the powerband so as you know it has a slower start with more power in the higher RPM. I will have it dyno’d to get the max out of that but probably after summer. The car was built for purpose to be a rally car not a quarter mile car. With that said, this car on my local Autobahn will get up to my crusing speed ( I will not incriminate myself especially in writing )extremely quickly and run there for 6 hours at a clip comfortably, it runs cool ( 205 - 219 F at speed ), still has plenty power in reserve to piss off the occassional non believer, and I can sip my coffee and not feel as if I need a death grip on the wheel as I make my bi-monthly journey as quickly and stealthily as possible. But the quarter is what a lot of folks consider to be the gold standard so… I think a 14 second soccer mom looking wagon ain’t too shabby. But I am going for 13. If I hit that whoo hoo better than ever expected, if not, I have nothing to be ashamed of.
With that trap speed your right around where you should be, with a “experianced” driver its proably a mid 14 where it stands now… but for 6-7lbs? That its running in a soccer mom as you said vehicle… thats pretty badass
Thanks for the compliment!!! I am pushing 9 - 10 lbs of boost. J thinks I should run low 14 to a high 13. We’ll see.
If this works here are some pics
EHh with a perfect pass I could see a low 14… but for the 13’s your going to have to crank up the boost a little bit.
Although I myself am not sure how much boost the stock bottem end can take, maybe focus sport would have a little more insight as to how much she can take while still being within a safe threshold.
FS says 11lbs no more.
1 bar for sure then :shifty
