And at one point in time Bill Gates stated we would never need more than 640KB of memory back in the 80s. 6MB ain’t gonna be shit in a few months.

I’ve been running tests over the last few weeks with adelphia and it never really seems to change much, I guess my network isn’t very crowded. even with 3 Mbps dsl I doubt I would hit these speeds.
Hmmm… that is wierd. Like others said… try checking to see if a dsl filter was forgot about. How old are the lines in the house? How close are you to a Verizon hub? How long is you networking cable? how long is the phone cord (thats attached to the wall jack)?
When I first got DSL at my rents house, I had a little bit of trouble (they had me connected at the slower speeds instead of the 1.5 connection).
it all depends on where you d/l from too… some places I’d get real shitty speeds (12-40 kbps) and other places, I’d get great speeds (200-300+).
I dont know… it didnt bother me much. Going from using compuserve dialup (which, btw, yielded me d/ls at around 2-3 kbps) to DSL was like night and day. I should have it in my new place any day now beats paying what adelphia wants for cable
well I got it working, no thanks to tech support. There was something I missed with a filter But I still don’t know what it was. I have a splitter right where the line comes in. one side goes to the rest of the house through a single filter and the other goes right to the modem.

right where it should be, I’ll have to check on upgrading to 3 Mbps…
What do they have to do to start service? Does somebody have to mess with the physical lines or is it jsut a different signal sent? I don’t understand what the long wait is all about.
For me they had to do something with the lines then build a hub or something. Yet for some reason when I told my uncle’s friend who works in Verizon, I got service within a week. Verizon also sucks for tech support. But I can’t complain about the service I’ve gotten thus far or the speed
