KA-T Re-Build and Turbo Build questions...

Ok so i’ve got a couple questions regarding a rebuild on a KA and than a turbo build to it.

What would it cost to have the engine rebuilt? And what is going on in the process?

Aside from picking up an apexi safc2 (retail: $450), and a greddy e-manage (retail: $350)…how much do SR 370cc injectors normally go for? I’ve seen them go for $100 used, but is it safe enough to buy them used?

Obviously with the rebuild i’d be picking up a turbo (t25), bov, and the fmic with piping. Whats recommended for the exhaust manifold and downpipe? Anything special?

Overall what would the rebuild and build cost?
I’ve done as much reasearch as to my knowledge, but would like some further input on it.

Thanks.
Mike

I’'ve already seen that, but i want some more input on the rebuild aspect of the KA. Preferably from some shop members.

AMS rebuild kit

How much power do you want to make?
(1)
300whp to 350whp max, boost 15psi max ( depends on turbo)
budget build: Forge pistons stock rods( good for 400whp depending on tunning) stock bolts and OEM head gasket, stock head with cams and cam gears.
Price $1500

350whp to 450whp max, boost 20psi max(depends on turbo and tunning)
(2)
Beginner: Built bottom end: forge pistons “Shot Peening” the stock rods ( more strenght 500whp max) ARP head bolts main bolts, new bearing and gaskets,
stock head with Brian Crower v2 cams with cam gears. Price$2100 with out the cams and cam gears. $2350 with the cams and cam gears.

(3)
450whp to 550whp max, boost 30psi max (depends on turbo)
Semi pro: built bottom end: Forge pistons, eagle rods, ARP head bolts and Main bolts, new bearings and gaskets.Price $2300
built head: port and polish, bigger valves with Brian Crower dual springs and v3 race cams and cam gears. Price $2400. Total $4700.00

Extra: balancing of crank and crank pully, pistons, rods, flywheel and clutch and pressure plate. $380

other parts:
Top mount fule rails $100.00
Top mount Injectors depending on size $250 to 300
Jim Wolf ecu $550usd
MAPecu.com $695usd
Log style manifolds $350.00
equal lenght short race manifold $550.0
equal lenght full race manifold $1000.00
Intercooler kit install (hard pipes or Aluminum) $550.0
Turbo’s from 550. to 2000.00

If you need anymore info let me know.

go big or go home

So you want 340cc injectors and a T25 and you are worried about rebuilding the engine? lol riiiiight

yea man you will be fine

you will be surprised on how much stock internals can handle

im at 10 psi with 550cc injectors and other shit and she loves it

iam going to go to 15 psi but i wanna install a copper head gasket and arp studs first

but ill tell you this…

at 15psi when im in 4th gear at 120kph and a mash it to the floor i loose traction

^^^^ yes you will.lol. u have the JimWolf ecu?

yea its great

but it runs a little rich with it around a 11 to 1 in full boost

so i used my safc to to tune it down to 12.5 to 1 in full boost

^^^^ If you are running stock internals you should run 11.4 in full bosst not 12 bud, your engine will run hot. Yes you will make more power leaning it out, but it is not safe.

Martino, our engine builder has built alot of engines from RB26, 2JZ,Sr20,KA24de and many more. The pricess I listed is what we charge to do a build.

so lemme get this straight draggone… your mechanic is charging 1500 for a engine rebuild of forged pistons, stock rods, stock head, stock gaskets??? cuz if thats what it is i think 1500 is a damn good price for pretty much a full engine rebuild from a shop.
so to recap:
he gonna take the motor out
strip the motor
put it back together with the new parts
drop the motor back in
and when its all said and done its gonna cost 1500?

No, you pull the engine we pick up the long block or short block, depending on distance pick up fee apply. We can also pull out the engine for you.

Long block: head and block with out intacke manifold and exhust manifold

Short block: block with oil pan only ($150 less than the long block)

Sounds like it time to run real tires there pete… LOL

that was with 235/40R17 federals

ill throw on a set or r comps and tell you how she is

the key to selling yourself is using the correct terminology when trying to sell your self

for starters shot peening is the process u use to strenthen the stock rods by stress reliveing them not “Shock Ping”

head gaskets? common dude , u only have one head gasket, i understand exactly what u are saying though and ur pretty much bang on , except for some of the terms uve been using

not trying to be a dick just correcting u a bit with the words u are using , cuz alot of people on this board like to be assholes and will rip on u for no reason even knowing what u are talking about

r u by anychance from the caribbian (sp??)

Thanks for the correction, and yes I am from the Islands and the balancing shop owner is Russian. I swear I heard shock ping. Thanks again Hector

draggone, what ka-t setup are you running yourself? And how do you like it?

Last year I was running a JimWolf ecu tune for 550cc injectors, Z32maf, top feed fuel rail, spec stage5 clutch kit and a T67 turbo with a race top mount manifold . It was sweet, but I had alot of lag due to the large exhust side of the turbo (93 exhust side). The day I took the JWF ecu out and left the SAFC to tune it, I blew my piston rings at 15psi.

This year I am running a built bottom end and later in the summer a full built head, AEM, T67 with a 63 exhust side.
