Yes, the SOHC TPS has a variable resistor, but it HAS NO ECU FUNCTION on the SOHC models.
So yes, you can indeed see your 1-100 on your SAFC, but your ECU cares about as much as I do.

What would be the point of a sensor if your ECU did not read and interpret it?

The ECU DOES read the TPS signal.

This sensor is a kind of potentiometer which transforms the throttle valve position into output voltage, and emits the voltage signal to the E.C.U.
