so this weekend i am picking up a KA24DE for my 1990 240, i have the instructions on how to do the swap but it doesn’t tell me if the exhaust manifold will fit or if the tranny or clutch will work with that motor.
the only reason i am putting a DE in my car is because i killed my old E-block and the DE was the only motor out there i could find for a reasonable price.
so if anyone out there knows if these things will work with each other let me know and if anyone has done this and has any pointers please let me know.
exhaust manifolds are not the same so you will need a de manifold.
I am not 100% sure but I read somewheres the trannys are not the same either.
How much is a reasonable price for just the motor?
i got the motor ECU wiring harness and LSD diff for $175
the transmission for a sohc will work for a dohc no issues,
you will need a dohc exhaust manifold
same with the clutch?
Clutch, trans all the same, the manifold is different but the pipe from the manifold is the same. unplug the harness carefully and the replacement harness will plug in if not cut
awesome thanks racecartech i will be doing the swap this weekend if everything goes as planned
The plug above the ECU is different but the wire colours are the same so it’s easy to cut off and match up. Other than that the wiring plugs right in.
Tranny and clutch work fine on either.
Power steering lines are different also.
