KA24E vs. KA24DE

Fellas, I picked up a 1990 Nissan King Cab with a blown motor

…way beyond rebuild status or so the gaping hole in the side of the block would indicate!

I have been hunting around for a replacement motor and have been trying to avoid a swap of any kind. The truck has the SOHC KA, but all I have been able to find around FS is the DOHC KA.

How much hassel if any to go with the DOHC as a replacement???

Thanks…

Very little. Some minor wiring, relocating some p/s lines, and a couple other small things. 9/10 on the easy scale.

Thanks for the reply

No ECU differences that will haunt me?

not as long as you have the DOCH one. :stuck_out_tongue:

^ Yes you need the DE ECU and the brown harness.

Read this. Most of the info is on page 2.

Its not that common of a swap because there is little gain and because it causes some headaches. The hardbody never came with a DE engine. Frontiers did.

I may have a complete KA24E SOHC with tranny for sale soon. Actually I may have a whole parts car for sale very soon, I will know within a week if we have to part it out or get it on the road!
The Engine had the timing belt done along with guides just about 2 years ago and it has been sitting for a year. It also had a brand new clutch when the engine work was done as well!

Thanks for the info, I am just going to hold out for the E and save some hassels.

Let me know, I really dont need a tranny but depending on the price I may still be interested. Where are you in AB?

…Dan

I’m in St Albert and the car is in Edmonton! If we have to part it out, I will give you a good deal on it! As soon as I know for sure I will be in touch!

I think it would be a good idea to just get it running with a KA24E and save the hassle of modifying stuff to get it to work … even if it is documented or not

i have a KA24DE with the 5 speed tranny for sale.
pm me if your interested.
i did a swap on my 240 from a blown ka24e to another ka24e.
VERY easy swap, straight forward.
engine out, other engine in, drive away.

do you even read his post? :?

Sorry man, I wanted to let you know that at this point the car will not be parted out!
