This is a great reference thread for anyone looking to do the same thing with all the fittings. Good job
although it seems to go a while without getting a reply in here after you post, I do read everything that you’re doing. i know sometimes it just seems like you’re talking to yourself as i’ve gone thru the same thing lol.
It’s just how it goes. Just like myself, people like to read/look @ build threads. No input is really needed. If you were entertained, or learned something from the thread - that’s cool. Glad I was able to help
Took the motor off of the stand and mounted the flywheel and the clutch assembly. It was tough to get the flywheel alignment dowels in, so I threw the flywheel in the oven @ 235F and the dowels into the freezer. They went in like butter with a lil bit of grease after that. Finally after that, I reunited the chassis and the motor. It took 4 long years to get to this point. Next up - power steering then fuel delivery.
Onto the pics:
The old back plate was rusty and beat up, so I bought a new one from Nissan.
Had to heat the flywheel to get it onto the crank as well.
SPEC clutch disk, hopefully it will hold.
Pressure plate
And here we are…4 years later! LOL
Checkin hood clearance - not sure if it will clear…
BMC to turbine housing clearance. I’m super glad I got the ChaseBays lines…
The wastegate just cleared with these fittings. I might try something different here.
Yup! I still need to drop the rear sub-frame and replace the old & rotted bushings and install the VLSD. After that’s in, I will need a one-piece drive shaft made. Any suggestions? I wanted to get it done locally. Not sure who to go to…
I’d like to fire her up at least once with all of the necessary components 1st, before throwing the rest of the parts on. I need to drop off the fuel rail @ my friends to get powder coated. I’ll mock up the fuel lines after that. The power steering shit can wait. Today’s goal is to get the transmission installed. It needs to happen before I attempt to mock up the intercooler piping and exhaust. The motor rocks back and forth too much on it’s mounts without the transmission in there and could cause issues when its time to tighten shit down.
SICKSPEED TB was not a direct bolt-on. I could’ve modified it to fit but opted out of the decision and sent it back for a refund. I’m just going to snag a new OEM one. I’m not going to lie, I’ve been slacking again. The beer, friends and nice weather make me not want to stay in the garage. I’ve also been playing around with my RC toys. But, I finally did get to drop the rear subframe with some friends. Now I need to clean it up, maybe paint it (most likely haha) and try to score some tubed arms from GodSpeed.
Bings.ca isn’t up at the moment. It’s on an old hosting service and should be moved to the same host as NYSpeed soon. Bing can be reached via PM here though.
