Key number?

I went to the nissan dealership to get a new key made today and they said that they couldn’t cut the key because they dont use the old key… and they use a number instead… and then they told me that because my car is too old… it doesnt have the key number in the vin number.

My car is a 92 S13…

Does anybody know where I can find this key number?

Inside of the glove compartment box. I just got a blank OEM key from nissan for

Xmas…not the one i wanted…They cut it at crappy using my old key and it worked

great. Slips right in. Ohh yea…and its free to get the key cut at crappy just not if

your buying a key…she practiced on one of her blank keys before touching my

oem one…so i ended up with 2 new keys for free.

thats BS. they should just ask you for your drivers license and your ownership with valid vin # and they should be able to cut it for you. it really doesn’t matter if your car is old, maybe the guy was just lazy and didn’t know how to do it.

Actually… Im pretty sure he was gay.

He said the vin’s usually have the number you need to cut the key… but since it was so old it didnt have the number he needed to cut it.

Either way, I’m sure I’ll figure something out.

Like enzo’s said, it’s in the glovebox on a sticker. It should be in the form x####. You can take it to any Nissan dealer with that code and have them cut it. They can’t cut it from the VIN.

I was told the same thing at Nissan, they don’t have the key records from the vin’s for cars that old.

This is the sticker inside my glove box and I don’t see any number on it that would indicate a key number… or anything for that matter…

The key number is on a separate sticker.

Maybe not all cars had them stuck on. Some people probably wrote their key numbers down somewhere else. (my coupe has both the sticker in the glovebox and the number hadnwritten in the owner’s manual)

This “too old” business is nonsense.

I’ve gotten keys for '80s 200SXs from the dealer before.

Make the fuckers work.

I got the same problem Theo does… I have that sticker but there is no other…

The thing is… about them copying my key… its so damn worn out that when it’s been cut, it might be just as bad or worse than my key I have now.
