S13 key code

I wanted to cut new keys for my car . Keys are really getting worn out and making a copy will only reproduce the same problem . Is there a location in or on the car where I can get the key code ?
1990 s13 .

My understanding is, correct me if I’m wrong. If you were to give any Nissan dealership yur VIN #, they’ll be able to cut you a new key… I can imagine simply showing yur ownership slip will do.

I will try that tomorrow , but I was under the impression that the car has to be - 10 year old to do so . Does not hurt to try .
Thanx man .

Anytime man… hopefully they don’t stress ya over the possible 10 year rule.

I don’t think it’s as much of a rule as it is just plain impractical for them to keep all that information. Can you imagine the storage required to keep info on every car made and sold by them?

Try cutting a new one anyway. I’ve had some pretty worn-out keys that worked fine after being duplicated. What have you got to loose? 3 bucks?

i had a serisou problem trying to get a key for an impounded car that i was going to buy,

i had the VIN and they still woudnt do shit, told me the car was too old… it was a 1992 coupe.

Yeah if the car is older than like 10 years or something, they dont keep the code on file.

However, you may be in luck. Go open your glovebox and look for a little sticker with a 4 digit number followed by an x. It may be on the underside somewhere, though mine wasn’t. That is your key code. You dont even need to go to Nissan to have it cut.

Ive got this too in my glovebox… Although my key will open and start over 5 240’s that im aware of

thanx everyone
Any other location ? dont they have the code on the lock it seft ?
I think I will check out a locksmith , shouldn’t cost 2 much to cut new keys.
I did cut some key but there where not working proprely , can not open the door but works in the ign .

Why would you want to take the door apart? Just look in the glovebox, it’s way easier - that’s why they put it there. Go look, find the code, get a new key cut. Simple.

They have the code. It not I donno. Call my work place 401 dixie nissan. I’m pretty sure we have it on file, cause i ask about getting new cylinders made according to my vin and my buddy in parts said he could do it for me.

that little code didnt help me either…

Then your Dealership Sucks Ass…

I went there gave them my Ownership and Licence, Next day I went back with $20 and I had me a freshly cut key…

i called nissan canada…

Weaksause…

ha ha ha . you guys are killing me .
I checked the glove box , no code in it , no sticker at all . I am so screw.

Hey man, someone here is selling a parts car for $200, I’m sure that whoever buys it is not going to be using the ignish and loch cylinders. You might try seeing if that key is better than yours and maybe make a purchase… there are ways around this.

EDIT Here, to save you some time… http://forums.son240sx.ca/viewtopic.php?t=9407

the previous owner of my car wrote it in the manual, you may want to check there. or in any papers he left you. pretty much look for a 4 or 5 digit number with an x in it.

Good luck

The key code should be in the VIN. Just go to the freaking dealer, not any small shitty nissan dealer. Go to a good on, thats busy.
