what do you do when your key breaks??

so last night my key broke when i went to go open my door,
i had a spare keye made before but didn’t check if it works and when i went t go use it itdidnt work, can some one tell me if i fcan still get my broken key cut or no??

Order a new key from the dealership. Walk in with your VIN in hand, ownership and your license and they should have no problem giving you one, although it may take a few days.

daam this is my daily car :frowning:
how much does that cost?? and thnx stiky for the quick reply

edit: what if your owner ship is in your car :expressionless:

Get a slim-jim or a coat hanger in between the window and the door frame (thank god for Nissan not having a window frame as well) and use the hook part to grasp onto the lock in the car. It will take a few tries but it will work. Then grab your ownership and head over to the dealership tomorrow, I believe it’s like $40 to do it, or call a locksmith and see what they can do.

lol i have done this …well locked my only key in the ignition and i got a little wedge stuck it between the door and the window and a coat hanger and undid the lock from the bottom of trhe door under the lock the bar is far down or it was in mys13

To be honest, Breaking into an s13 is a joke. I can do it in less then a minute. You shouldnt have any trouble getting in. As for the key, As Chris said go to nissan with your ownership paper in hand and they will cut one for you. Although i dotn think it take a couple days but it all depends.

Good luck

man 240s are probably the easist cars to break in to of all time.

hell you can pull the window enough to fit your arm through sometimes.

Goto the ministry and pay ten bucks for a new ownership and goto the dealer. You can get alkl this done in a lunch break at work. The dealer will take 5 mins to d it. Unless your car is from usa/japan, and they will haveta call to get your key code.

If your car is OLDER than 1996, then don’t waste your time going to the dealership…

Just get a professional locksmith that can make a key using the wear patterns in the lock cylinder.

Nissan dealerships did NOT begin to keep key patterns until 1996.

yea, tried going to dealership once. they said my car is too old, they don’t have record of it even with showing them ownership/VIN number

^^ yup same thing happened to me, they told me they wouldnt show any records and all that… if you have an s13 i would check the glove box for key code if its still in there

i went to the dealership for my 89 and they cut me my keys all i had to bring them was the 4 or 5 digit code in my glovebox

A professional locksmith can cut you a key - you just have to provide proof of ownership and the serial number. Amazing to watch them cut a key from that - car isn’t needed except to test it - but not everyone is that good and capable of doing that.

This is also valuable when you just have one key left and it’s so worn that it cannot be used to cut a new master.

It’s $20 for a new ownership. Give yourself time because some MTO’s are a 45 min average wait if you do decide to purchase a new ownership.

Integra’s have the frame less window business too. Thank God people would rather steal Honda’s for some reason.

if you have both parts of the key, most of the time you can get a new one cut pretty much anywhere they cut keys, i know that the home hardware i used to work at could do it cause i did it a few times

You’re referring to DA Integras and DC2 4-doors, which really don’t have any valuable use to thieves anyway, its the DC2 2-doors that have some value, and even then, those are framed windows…
