In my opinion, 500whp for a daily driver sounds really stupid. Do you have a diff as well as really good tires that will allow you to hook up? 500whp in a 240 is way overkill in my opinion. Not sure how responsive it will be with that turbo but since it’s a higher displacement motor, it might be be… I don’t know much about RB’s.
300 - 350whp is probably the nicest number you can have in a 240. Those numbers in an RB25 240, matched with a smaller turbo, will make your car spool up a lot quicker and feel a lot more fun on the street.
But that’s just my opinion. 500whp will probably make you slower than a 350whp 240 from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. You will probably start to pull once you get into to 4th and 5th when your car can actually get grip. But then again, I haven’t been in both.
But flame me if I’m wrong.
EDIT: If anything, I’d shoot for 400whp MAX, but that is only if you have tires and other stuff that can help you put that power down.
Having 600whp that can never get grip is like having a 12 inch dick that will never get pussy.
Just for reference Mikey…here are a few RB25 cars I’ve tuned. Word to the wize…install the AEM trigger disk that comes with your EMS. RB25 CAS suck bag.
RB25, GT30R, AEM EMS, 740cc’s, Freddy IM, Normal Bolt-ons. 10psi
RB25, GT35R, AEM EMS, SARD 850cc’s, Normal Bolt-ons. Gate cracking at 12psi and creeping to 15.5psi
Fabwall, bud come one!!! Why 500whp as a daily driver dumb? If you have money to build a RB I think he will be able to afford some drag radials to lay the traction down.
I donot know why most of you guys think you will have no traction with any horse power over 400whp!!!.
It all comes down to your setup.
Born2beaskyline if you want 500whp do it!!! just do your research, I think the oil pump is the weak point. Not sure so do not quote me. We have a RB26 in the crew and the oil pump has to be upgraded when pushing does numbers.
Yah, I’m sure that he’s planning on running drag radials for his daily driver, especially after he spent all his money tuning and re-doing his car.
Draggone, is it just me or aren’t you a hypocrite yourself? Didn’t you have a 500whp 240, and yet you went to the drag strip but ran a shitty time because you had shit tires on? Or what was your reason for running those tires?
So I really don’t know why you’re saying if someone can afford a 500whp car, they can afford tires.
If the man can do it, wants to do it, let him do it. It’s kind of obvious that in a lighter car there will be traction and grip issues, furthermore its common sense that ‘standard’ 240 sizes (stretched skinny rubber on gigantic width wheels) will not extract much grip or traction. Obviously he’ll need to run a descent 3xx series tire, have a different final drive or gear ratios, tire height, etc… a combination of things here and there.
Second of all it has already been done. In fact go on youtube and check RB25DET s13 200sx. It runs a td04 turbo if im not mistaken. The car is mega fast, sounds awesome, looks awesome, performs awesome. It’s not so much of an issue as you make it out to be.
It may seem so as most local 240sx are not anywhere near that, but it’s been done.
Most of the guys running 400whp-500whp tend to run 225s, 255s max… obviously they’ll run shitty times (that’s what puzzled me when looking at most ka-t guys, tons of power, low end, etc… but not so good times). It all makes sense, power is not everything.
Edit: But I agree 350whp in a 240 is plenty fast.
There’s too much rumor shitting left and right about what 240sx need or don’t need or could or could not do. 240SX chassis cars are great for alot of things given the research, money and time invested.
Roger, I don’t think I said anything about 500whp not ever being done. Not sure why you’re talking about that.
Like I said man, for most people, having a 500whp is mainly for bragging rights, it’s just to tell everyone else that you have a 12 inch cock at a car meet. But, to each his own, this is just my opinion, I’m not saying that he MUST do what I tell him to do.
Well you may be right, but in my case I would never build a car to satisfy other people, I would build it for myself to satisfy myself. Kind of silly to spend so much money only to brag to some guys that get turned on by big horse power haha
Mark!! I never said I ran at the track, it was DA1 who own the car back then, I bought the car and building it to run over 500whp. So I never took the car the the strip as yet and yes I all ready have my drag radials.
Fobwall and Draggone… you two need to have a race, not to be rude but take your guys beef to a new thread, cause you arguing up in this man thread!! he’s going to get vex!!
P.S. I saw Fob’s car at school… it looks okay i guess in the day time lol… im always on my teams side… but this cant happen here
i will see what the motor will make. w.e is the most efficent and responsive and reliable will be the map chosen for daily driving. and i will do some work to the rear end of my kouki when money allows me too
