I think a little stretch looks good. Too much just looks stupid.
Here are my 195/45/14’s on 14x8’s.
were not worried about suspension, travel. we just want to look more euro if u don’t mind!!!
Whos car is that? Is it a real 180SX? or is it just a pic you grabbed off the net?
Suspension geometry is set up with enough -camber that the wheel and tire travel in further during compression to maybe rub a little but never tear.
That I know of that is just a plain old 240. In canada username JVD on zilvia. his stretch is nicer 225/40 on an 18x10 but i seriously couldnt see going below a 235 on a rwd v8 car. These wheels are fail wheels the set i wasnt is $4500 so that will come in 2 years after i pay the car off. I wish i had an s-chassi so 18x9.5 could be semi badass instead of bland status
look at my signiture my tires were stretched and i didnt mean to i thought i should buy that size lol
Suspension arms travel in arcs, so as it gets compressed the track (width from centerline of each tire) becomes smaller effectively tucking in the wheel. You don’t necessarily need to run lots of camber.
You’re all flippin’ crazy.
tire stretch looks good on vdubs
you really dont “stretch” the tire per say…you are just mounting them like normal…hopefully, the tire machine is powerful enough to get the bead of the tire onto the tops of the rims…sometimes you might have to get two people, one to push the middle of the tire so that it makes the ends higher…any competient shop should be able to do this…
YOU’RE crazy. Its safer to drive around on the sidewall. Didn’t you get the memo?
They also do this in go cart racing to get a wider foot print out of the tire.
per class rules or some shit your only allowed certain tires and rim widths and there a pain in the ass to do!!
155/80/13s on a 7" rim… thats a stretch!
my buddy owns grand premier tire and wheels in east greenbush. there experts
its not hard at all inline performance did my rims and they were brand new and polished deep dish i got them back with no scratches.(inline performance) 357-4100 in rotterdam ny
looks like i have lots of options then.
thanks guys. 235/40 on a 9.5 is not an extreme stretch i only need a few mm to clear the fender anyway
the only thing you really have to findout is if the wheels are standard or reverse mount… A lot of tire machines cant do reverse mount wheels because the machine has to clamp in on them not out… Thats the only problem ive had when getting my tires mounted was finding a place that can do reverse mount… If you mount tires the standard way on reverse mount wheels youll tear the fuck out of the bead
standard. none of that reverse shit
that’s the key. this area is “hack city” all over. there are quality shops that can do this, but most aren’t careful.
grand premier is a great shop.
i was going to suggest here as well… “fastest tire shop around”
