So i take my CCW’s into a tire shop to have them mounted…
i gave them 225 Hankook Ventus R-comps from Peter’s group buy. 235 ZR Coopers, and some 275 Falken 452s… said mount which ever you can.
i get a call back 1 hour later…
“we cant mount these, the wheels are too wide”
i said “you cant even mount the 275’s on a 10.5”
“nope too wide”
i’m thinking bullshit, since that is a stock Corvette size.
Anyways, i pick the wheels up and take them to another tire shop in the same plaza… these guys basically kicked serious ASS… they mounted them in like 30 minutes… and look at the result.
thats a 235/40/17 stretched on a 17 x 10.5 in wheel…
they stretched the 225 R-comp over a 9.5, but then found that the other R-comp was busted… the bead was cut through to the metal weave underneath the rubber… SHAADY!!!11!
soooo no i have one useless discontinued R-comp… i also have a useless discontinued 245 Firehawk SZ50 laying around after a blow-out… fukk accumulating useless tires.
gotta pick up some tires from GB Tires tonight… WEEE!!
After working on tires for so long and seeing the shadiness of CT… I would bet my first born it was them trying to mount them. Saw it all the time when customers would go there first, come to us after and then need to buy new tires.
eliminate side wall flex thus making it easier to kick out. also a great way to make a set of rims fit with out rolln and pulln fenders. i have 225 strechd on 9’s but 45 series… must get 40’s
