Damn, lol @ 2900lbs. my cars like 800#'s lighter than that in race trim.
been following flantos build when the motor was in his buick, i have essentially same setup just higher mileage 260k_miles lq4 with ls6 heads polluter cam 08 silverado intake with 92mm throttle body. i need more convertor but loves the spray. on 75 shot i went 10.46 so far. my car weighs 3600lbs with me in it. i have this in 86 el camino.
You might be able to help me then…
Did you mill you heads at all? and did you need to fly cut?
I was thinking of using the same setup
LQ4s are stupid cheap
no the heads are stock with dual valve springs that is it. there was plenty of PTV with this setup. has been together for about 8-10k miles so far.
you can also use a 799 casting on newer trucks too. but the corvette 243s use sodium valves and are lighter. thinking easier on valvetrain as i rev the motor to about 7k.
Interesting…I will probably look into milling and flycutting since the compression the LQ4 is lowww or get that fixed with boost.
However I would much rather go quick NA
If someone wants to help me find a LQ4 or LQ9 locally at a reasonable price I will toss you a finders fee
if lq9, they have higher compression. i would like to find one one day. work very well if staying NA.
lq4 would work well on boost but if gonna mill the heads i would just look for another set of heads, just sold a set of patriot heads with 59cc chambers for good price less than buying 243 and milling them and purchasing dual valve springs. just an option to look into.
Thanks
Been lurking here and there… Can’t wait to see the finished product… your car should move out pretty good!
Yes, that was me. Thank you sir… How is it going??
You are correct! I should have word it better and I am not claiming 2 fast Garage built Val’s car. Sorry for the confusion.
Did they build a local one? Vals car is one bad assmachine. I have his brothers(goldrush)418ci ls3 going in my fd.
I have a bunch of 243/799 heads if anyone looking. Some have homes already, ready to make killer power.
not sure since pittspeed was sold but can JJ’s still be advertised? in my group of friends I think we have a collective 4+ dropouts from them.
Just go ahead and link it. I won’t tell if you won’t haha. But really I don’t think helping out this particular instance would hurt.

Call up and talk to Guffey or he’ll put you in touch with Brian. He has more ls based shit and f bodies than anyone I know. Real good people.
yep have bought few dropouts for swaps from them and will be purschasing more from JJs soon will be swapping e30 bimmer and a 62 impala shortly
6L, 243s ported and milled a bunch, super vic, carb/MSD coil drive, something nice like a lunati 60521 or 60522, turn it 7500 would get a great setup. Even a Trex works good with a single plane, would be close to 500whp
That combo would ef shit up on the cheap. Add a bottle for the ruckus
