just called to confirm and they said YOU HAVE TO MEASURE. this was TSP that i called btw
im not surprised, ive done this twice before where ive taken a train one time and friends drove me the other time. thats just for the vette, not including all other cars. right now i dont have the time for this shit, thats my issue. and i wanted the car for may
ive orderd cams from TEXAS SPEED:thumbup, thunger racing and from one other place :ninja that was a custom grind…allllll came with correct length pushrods…even the custom grind:eek3!
just sayn!
:hug
they said, and i quote
“a xxx” would work but i do not recomend purchasing anything unless u measure because that could be way off. u have to measure man, we cant give u an accurate length without the car being here."
You could ship it?
Im not sure where ecs is but, im heading to FL tuesday and if its south and semi along th way and you need to catch a ride or whatever ill do what i can to help.
I will whittle some push rods out of shark bone for you
nj and its not till next month. sorry
stop fucking around here on shift and make a post on ls1tech. Tell them your mods, and your cam specs. They will tell you what size pushrods you will need. I did this, and they were dead on. There are ALOT of big time shop owners over there that will jump in and tell you what you will need.
i understand but its a stock headed/stock motor c5 z06, yes with a blower but that has nothing todo with pushrod length. i could see if it were some unreal huge cam with crazzzy milled heads and a novi…unless your not telling us somthing…hahahaha ill give you a pushrod i think will work. im a ls god.
noooooo no sorry, im not. i was thinking outloud.:tongue
ya most deff need to check pushrod length after install as every motor is differant . a thou of a inch off is a lot in valvtrain geometry it can sometimes be the diff between a valve hittin a piston and clearing etc etc .
im just going to have them measured no issue.
they are definitely doing it the right way, no matter what anyone says. If you throw a generic size and it doesnt run right because of that, then you have to start the guess work. If you measure and get the right length the first time you know that will never be the problem if it doesnt run right
GM uses 7.385" pushrods on all LSx motors from the factory, measuring isn’t necessary to keep stock geometry, just math. You have to know the base circle of the new cam, though…
Oh, I agree… if you have the time and the tools to measure, you might as well do it!
Is the new cam a regrind E?
i do not diagree but i know im not wrong in my feelings seeing as ive gotten cams from 3 top shops with pushrods to spec…and the one shop i used is the same shop e got his custom grind from…i was just sayn! lol
Word. I didn’t measure mine as it’s just simple math, I know the stock cam base circle and the new cam base circle so it’s not a big deal if those are the only variables.
what about lifetrs, valve stem wear , cam being just a tad offff , etc etc . to much can go wrong over checking and doin suttin that seams minor at the time but can lead to baddddddd consequnces in the long run . think about it , not every motor is exact esp wit gm lol
word big bear!
