LSx Motors vs. ALL

Yea I see where your coming from Shawn. The only thing is that where as the 4g63 3/s and 2jz are all built with intention of boost. I am suprised with how well Matts car is holding up with the amount of power he put down on a stock piston/rod/sleeve b series. Also Im not sure if Paul is going by how much easier it is to make an ls1 faster and still retain stock drive ability ie no over heating or what ever other problems come with trying to squeeze huge power out of a tiny space? He will have to chime in to answer that one.

aluminum actually dissapates heat faster than cast obviusly :nodya can make the lsx motors very healthy and powerful and yet retain great gas mileage and power when ya want it wit no overheating …a friend of mine has a certain 03 vert vette doin 10.3 passes all day all motor no spray yet still retains exc driveability and 30 mpg…now i know what one person calls streetable and what another calls streetable are diff but i guess it,s all in taste

My car makes torque.

But, yea, you are right which is why I don’t get the bigger displacement = more reliable given the examples I posted.

look at the Boosted cobra motors…Bone stock with the hellion TT kit they are laying down over 1000rwhp and daily driving it like them. Those motors are strong as shit.

And the thread has finished its slow transformation to a import Vs. domestic battle. :nana

Stock internal’ed Cobra motors make 1000RWHP?

because there is no replacement for displacement ya ass … ;D…look at it this way ya got a 2.0 lt motor push about 10 lbs of boost to it it almost triples the displacment of the motor basically rendering it a 6.0 lt if ya will ,now take a domestic 6.0 lt push that same amount of boost to it and see what ya got i cant remeber what it comes out to but its a lot way more than import can pull off on 10 lbs

I think we can all agree that there is a better potential to make power with the bigger motor. Yet, I still fail to see how the term reliable can be used. It just makes no sense to me.

I’ll wait for SSmoking’s intepretation. :lol

look at it from a mechanical standpoint i guess ya got the avg 4 cyl motor they only last about 100k or so most 8 cyl will last double that wit no t/belt issues or anything …think about it a 4cyl is workin twice as hard a 8 cyl to do the same amount of work regadless of horse equal or not

Huh? what average 4cyl engine do you know of that only lasts 100k? Ford’s maybe? Is it just me or is that a rather idiotic statement.

should of rephrased that to a couple yr old 4cyl motors go back 5 yrs and most were shit …honda and toyo hold up well though

I’m having trouble following what you are trying to convey, what the hell did you just say? hahah.

My '99 Nissan is just about to round 100K and the only that has ever been done to it was a clutch replacement at 60K like 3 days after I got the car.

Course thats no extreme example but still, 100K on a 4cyl without ever having any issues seems to go against whatever your saying.

what’s this torque thing you speak of? idk what that is :ponder

some do last bein a mechanic i see a lot of the downsides to them though

Do share? The only thing I have ever heard about import engines is very good things in term of reliability. Maybe you have some first hand experience I don’t, all I ever work on are Benz which have essentially 0 issues with there engines large or small.

184k on my Toyota and she runs just fine… still gets over 30mpg no matter how i drive. which is usually foot to the floor.

only work done to it, is plugs sometimes, its had a clutch and a timing belt, exhaust manifold was cracked a while back, original exhaust system otherwise, just replaced 1 CV axle due to excessive wear on the inner joint, but no mechanical issues… 184k, 2 clutches(original removed at 166k), an altenator, battery, CV axle, timing belt… hmm sounds like pretty routine maintenance to me

I’ve only had a few drinks but it sounds like the domestics are trying to save their motors last longer than imports? :nuts

Yes that is where the conversation is heading. But shh let him go on, I’m rather interested to see where this new argument goes.

Shh. Neo is figuring out my tricks. :tong

Of course, why else would you be working on them?
