So I take it there isn’t a safety latch you have to manually release to open it, like every other hood I’ve ever seen? Pretty dumb move if that’s the case. I’m going to assume they wanted the convenience of a typical trunk popper when you open it from the fob it opens completely on it’s own so if you have stuff in your hands you don’t have to lift the trunk lid. That’s really only a safe design for a rear trunk where the aero would keep it closed at speed if it was accidentally opened.
This has been happening since the dawn of time with T-Tops and targa tops, nothing new lol.
The C8 Corvette uses a brake-by-wire system that connects the pedal to the brake system using electronic connections rather than a physical booster. So it’d be a big problem if the pedal couldn’t communicate with the brakes while you’re driving down the road. According to the bulletin, “extra pedal force will be required to slow and stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” should communication from the sensor in question be interrupted.
BMW ditched the booster also. Not sure what the big deal is. We’ve had one fail and the customer barely even noticed. “My car doesn’t stop as good as it did new”. This was on a x5 M50i
Better to fix it than find out a retired dude hit a wall at a track day in his new C8.
If the electronics fail it’d be similar to a booster failing, just press on that pedal hard af lol I remember when my brake line blew on my winter beater, went 10mph and used the e-brake the whole way home.
Well that didn’t last long…
“The front-engined Corvette is an icon, and putting the motor back where it belongs allows us as designers to play around more. We don’t have to integrate vents and ducts along the profile now, and that means a sleeker, faster-looking machine. We’re also toying with the idea of bringing back the split rear window, but we can’t confirm that it’ll make production at this stage.”
that was posted on april 1st…
lol @LUC1F3R I just saw it TODAY so fuck me, lol.
I was about to say, didn’t they put out an article saying they literally couldn’t get any more performance from the front engine and that the Mid/rear proved to be much better in performance. To me it would be a step backwards for no reason other than the boomers who want the old style.
Insert viper acr
On a completely unrelated note, I saw the new Mustang Mach-E today in Amherst…
Ew.
But okay, keep being progressive, auto manufacturers.
Mid engined Viper…
I’ve seen 9 of these since Monday. 4 yesterday. Can’t wait till these are in the 40-50k range like the C7
The more I see them the more ugly they get. Rip off NSX
Been seeing more and more of them on the road too. Huge improvement over any prior Corvette IMO. Honestly the first one I’ve ever considered owning.
WestHerr Acura seems to be getting a bunch of them in and pricing them over 100k each time. probably has 2 or 3 sitting at the front of the lot right now. Had an NSX at the same time. I would definitely take the NSX over the vet any day though. Nothing like Honda engineering when they really want to build a top quality sports car.
I like the front, not a fan of the ass
Same, which is sad because that’s what most people will see.
