Might as well forget about playoffs (sabres)

Yeah I know its still early to say that, but its not looking good being at the very bottom or the leaque and only one point out of being tied for last place with a good chunk of the season gone and injuries upon injuries each night.

I didnt think that briere and drury had THAT much of an effect on the team, even though its just hersay to say it but you gotta wonder how the season would be going if we had even one of them still.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Sabres centres Tim Connolly and Adam Mair are out indefinitely, marking the latest to a team that has struggled to start the season.

Coach Lindy Ruff said Tuesday that both will be out after Connolly strained his abdomen and Mair sprained his right ankle in a 2-0 loss at Montreal a day earlier. Ruff said Connolly would “miss some time,” but was more concerned about Mair’s injury, saying the gritty fourth-line player will be out for weeks.

Mair did not return after he was hurt in the second period. Connolly continued playing after he was hurt early in the third period, but Ruff said the injury worsened after the team returned home.

Connolly has been Buffalo’s most consistent forward, and was tied for team lead with 12 points (11 assists) in 13 games. Mair has two goals and one assist in 13 games.

The Sabres (5-7-1), who host Boston on Wednesday, have lost three straight and are tied for 12th in the Eastern Conference. That’s a major turnaround from last year, when Buffalo won its first 10 games to match an NHL record for best start, on its way to a league-best 53-22-7 finish.

The Sabres are already missing two veteran defenceman. Dmitri Kalinin is out indefinitely with a sprained right knee and Jaroslav Spacek has missed six of seven games with a shoulder injury. Defenceman Nolan Pratt is also out after straining his groin in his Sabres debut last week

Uhhh…

Is your thread title serious?

when they do make the playoffs you are not allowed to support them…you instead may sit in the corner and think about what you said.

ZOMG WE HAVE INJURED PLAYERS, NO WAY WE CAN WIN NOW…THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE (see the past two years where we dominated as the buffchester sabricans

i think the team might actually need this

bring forth the coming…OF ZAGRAPAN

Theyll just call up more youngins like last year from the amerks and be fine.

Connoly was out ALL last year,

mair will recover in a few weeks

Kalinin? hes missing, no one cares he fucking sucks

be nice to haev spacek back

Actually, regardless of what some people on here say about Kalinin, he has been the Sabres most solid defensemen.

If you want to bitch about the defense, at least make Tallinder the new whipping boy. He has been horrendous thus far this year.

Kalinin cannot hold the point, doesnt have a good shot, and isnt fast enough to chase people down when they get past him.

Cambell is elevitybillion times better

zagrapan could skate circles around captain concussion…reunite him on a line with stafford and macarthur and watch the chaos ensue

I wasn’t talking about Campbell though. But since you brought him up, Campbell is also going to be a lot more expensive than Kalinin.

you do realise the season is 82 games right? yea, its not good to be where they are, but its far from over

Yeah a good chunk of the season is certainly over :cjerk:

Talk to me when and if they are 14 points out with 7 games to play in the season.

Go away now.

lolol i LOVE how everyone is jumping ship!!

true fans unite! GO SABRES

Oh, ok daddy!

Im by no means a fairweather fan but if the season continues the way it has its not looking too good. Besides, its buffalo sports being pesimisstic is being realistic.

And yes, connolly was out all last season basically, but we had 3 other great fowards to fill the gap.

I dont know why everyone hates on kalinin, last year in the playoffs him and teppo had the highest +/- rating (10 or so I think) wether or not you like him, he is a important piece of the defense.

I dont why everyone thinks, forget starters well just call people up from the americans, Sorry to say but theres a reason they are in rochester (im not saying they are bad, alot are still developing) sure stafford, ryan, and paille are very good players, but we need offense, not just solid players who wont fuck up.

Anyways I wanna see Dylan Hunter brought up, I think he could surprise some people.

fyi 13 games might not sound like alot but it is more then 15% of the season.

Numminen did all the work, Kalinin still sucks

there called farm teams for a reason

I was not impressed by hunter when i saw him

do you even watch hockey? more often than not its the teams that hit the playoffs on a run that can carry that momentum through the playoffs, its far too early to jump to conclusions. if we’re like the flyers last year at midseason, THEN you can worry, but its still too early.

wow…

Hey Farva, do you remember last year down the stretch when the sabres wern’t so hot. I believe they had 3 wins out of 10 at some point. Anyone who watches hockey knows that teams have ups and downs during the year and its a long season. I’d rather the sabres finish 8th in the east going into the playoffs hot, then entering in 1st or second and being cold.

That being said, they will finish in 4th place in the east going into the playoffs.

And everyone knows Buffalo steps it up in the later months…

I love it how the first 3 replies to this post were all angry guys rocking sabres symbols as thier avs and sigs lol

would someone please look up ottawa’s record after 15 games last season? they were pathetic. their whole city was ready to trade alfredsson, said he was washed up and a terrible leader. spezza and heatley didnt start cooking until 25% of the season was gone. realistically, if the sabres have any shot at making another deep playoff run, they need to rid themselves of bad habits early rather than develop them late, like last season.
