Motorsports?

I was just thinking that it would be a good idea to see what everyone plans on doing this year with their cars.

So tell us!

Do you plan on dragging/circuit/drift/etc…

Personally I plan on running all of the Solo 1 events (so I can upgrade to my Regional B, instead of taking the school… cuz I’m cheap) as well as most of the ORRC (Ontario Road Rally Championship - NAVEX Rallies). Thats for 2005… it’s my “entry level” year. And on a side now, I want to run TARGA this year.

Then for 2006 I plan on actually doing performance rallies on a Provincial and maybe a National level, as well as the Ontario Challenge Cup. So far, it looks like I’m going to have to choose between the two seeing as the cars will have to be set up for COMPLETELY different purposes. However, I hope to use the 2005 season to get a feel of what I like more. I will probably end up doing rally, because I find it more entertaining.

So share what you want to do with your car, please don’t tell me you built it up to be hard parked!

my car is a daily driver, i have put 12,000 or so km’s on my SR since august…

definately wont be going to shannonville, i cant do 6 hours of driving there and back just so i can beat on the car for an hour.

if there are drift events closer than that i will be there, and i will be taking it to the track to see how fast it is every time something gets beefed on it.

always up for hard drives any day of the week.

i hope to be able to add a whole bunch of items on my car that i have been trying to develop over the past year or so… i am more interested in having a sharp looking, great handling daily driver than a track car that i drive on the street.

i’ve said it before… it doesnt make sense to set your car up for all track driving when it sees 20,000 street km’s and 2,000 track km’s a year.
or in my case, 35,000 street and 250 track maybe…

Yeah but there also isn’t a point in beefing up suspension, and making you car do 12s… if you only plan on street driving it.

How agressive can one REALLY be on the street.

my car is a daily driver, to work and back errand running car.

i’ll be attending track days at shannonville and mosport, i want to take it to CSCS to see my 1/4 mile and reaction time and everything. im hoping to be running somewhere in the high 13’s.

im not going to get too serious yet, no solo1 or anything like that. lots of highway racing tho, i cant help it. going fast is too addictive.

my car will also probably be at darknights, i’ve never been in a show and i want to see what its like.

i think you would be surprised actually.

No I wouldn’t … I just mean like… you can’t go balls out as much on the street without risking a) public safety b) your license (if you get caught).

My car is used for grip and drift. Its my daily driver as well, but I tend to put up with alot of crap, so moding isn’t an issue. Just the long drive to shannoville drives me nuts, but hey what can you do. We need more events at Mosport since its only a 45 min drive.

Andrew.

Solo 1 is using mosport.

TMP will have its track open this year.

TMP is much closer that shanny isnt it?

i would show for that…

Yeah, TMP is in Cayuga (bout 25 minutes outside of hamilton)

I live about 30-45 minutes from Mosport… so I’m definately looking to any events going down there.

Yeah thats what I hear. I like Shannonville, but its so bloody far.
I want to try Mosport this year, is there no way of getting on it?

Solo 1 is having a few of their events at Mosport (Full Circuit). I know Team Mischief might be renting DDT once we get our shit together (where they USED to do the solo 1 events)

I look forward to Calabogie though drool August is going to rock.

solo 1 this year again…this will be my 7th year now …going to run philips black NA s13 this season…

solo 1 , has events this year at shannonville, mosport big track, mosport ddt, TMP, and calabogie

should be fun…

Hope to see you out. What class are you going to be in?
I think im going to be in SGT3 or Improved (If I do my brakes)

EDIT: NVM I’m a fool… I think I’m in SGT1 (Don’t know where I got GT3 from… weird… oh well , we’ll see where I stand when the time comes.

hehe you’ll do well Adam I’m sure. I’m kinda sad your not fielding the KA-T tho  But I understand why.

Is Philip not driving this year? And how is he, we never hear from him anymore?

Andrew.

I’m like a lot of you guys…my car is definately just a fun street car that if the mood / weather is right I’ll take to the track.

That being said, I hope to get to the strip and a few “for fun” drift events throughout the next summer.

philip is good, he sold his car to me…

i will be running in GT3 or GT4 with the slower cars in the NA 240sx

i was in SGT1 with the turbo 240sx…

ps brakes are free points in solo1…so go big…and if you are gonna road race them i would start with hawke blue pads then go up from there…on my turbo car i ended up with williams pure race pads and hawkes ht10’s as the final choice…

other wise you are going to get SEVERE brake fad after a few corners depending on how fast you are going anyway

i would HIGHLY suggest taking the solo 1 race school in teh spring as its very cheap and will get you some good seat time…plus you get 2 free solo 1 events with it…its the best deal out there…

what kinda times were you doing in your car anyway? do you have any SMP nelson times? or fabi times ? then what i would suggest is going back into the solo1 records and see how you would fare…then you can prep your car accordingly…realistically as a novice you should just be out getting seat time and lots of it…since its very hard to be competitive your first year out.

My car is a daily driver (except for winter) and i plan on doing some drift events this year. I wanted to last year but i couldnt get everything together on time.
