All TW offers, 1 HDDVR, 1 Standard Reciever, Roadrunner… 0.00
gotta love working for TW… And i get half off any OnDemand or PPV events.
If I didn’t work with TW though I would be looking at dish or dtv.

How are you forced to get roadrunner? Who is the local phone carrier? Windstream or Verizon?
DSL has horrible latency. I have no idea who my local phone company is since I haven’t had a land line in 8 years.
unless some of you tell me DSL got better somehow and is cheaper than RR?
I could also get wimax from clearwire, but the data rates are a joke.
can I has fiber?
DSL does not have horrible latency… wtf are you talking about willis…
You do not need a landline phone in most cases for DSL nowadays… see “naked dsl”
Verizon’s based DSL is 768/128 and most times 14.99 a month.
DSL and Cable are similar services although you data throughput with DSL can drop if you are farther from the Carrier Office.
would any others like to confirm or deny this… it has been a bunch of years since I used dsl.
Rochester is frontier and maybe verizon for dsl I believe.
how can I tell if it’s naked?
DSL rocks, I pay for the 768/128 mine shows closer to 1.5mbps download. It gets me all the porn I need.
stupid question… do I need to pay for phone service also?
Most people don’t called it “naked”
Most people call it a dry loop
You don’t need phone service to get a dry loop…its stand alone DSL on a line.
LZ is correct the right term is dry loop dsl… most places have it now so you do not need a land line phone.
QFT, My DirecTV has never once lost signal in all the time I have had it. If you were losing signal it was due to a poor installation.
I was looking to get directtv or dish for the HD since time warner blows in that department. Only thing I don’t like is that I won’t be able to get any network channels. Now I hear there are ways around that…maybe one of the dtv/dish employees can help me out there? I don’t care what city they’re out of…I just want ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox.
dude, when is the last time you actually checked things out, DTV has local HD channels for a long time now, the only one they dont have is CBS, and thats not because of DTV, its lims thats refusing to carry it on dtv, i just use an antenna for that channel.
CBS, PBS and CW aren’t carried for HD feeds.
But nothing OTA can’t handle… I really wish they would get off there ass and get the AM21 out to consumers.
Dish Network is launching local HDs this month, including CBS.
i know but he only said the major networks, plus with an antenna i get all of those stupid PBS channels anyways
Where is painted post??
I’m actually in Avoca now with is a bit west of there but same general market. Right now my locals from TW are from Buffalo, Rochester, and Elmira. However I still can’t get any through the satellite companies without waivers which take a month or two and then still isn’t guaranteed.
So my wife signs us up for Direct TV and the kid comes out today to install it and claims he can’t do it.
I think he’s scared of heights or something.
I told him to hook everything up and I will mount the dish later.
He said he can’t do that because they will doc his pay. wtf?
So I told him to leave the dish there and he said he wasn’t sure he had an extra.
How was he going to hook it up in the first palce if he didn’t have enough with him?
I can tell already this is going to be a great experience with direct tv.
Why is nothing in my life EVER simple?:rant:I know…
