So a while back I stumbled on a deal for some cheap laminate flooring for 29 cents / sqft. I bought just under 1k sqft to do the attic shop area of the barn and the other part of our basement someday. Since the upstairs of the barn will mostly be a wood shop, I wanted something that would be easy to clean up sawdust. This fit the bill.
I did most of the install over the week of Thanksgiving as I was off, and just finished it up last sat (I need to get some finished pics yet).
The wall is to create a storage area at the far end, its ~!6x16, leaving me with 32x16 for the shop area.
One suggestion for the wood shop; put a dust collect inlet/sucker on the floor under a cabinet or built into the wall. That way you can just sweep the floor sawdust into it instead of having to dust-pan it.
Dont know if you’ve done it yet, but where did you get insulation quotes from? Everytime we’ve had a house or project insulated its been cheaper to hire someone than to go to home depot and buy it and do it ourselves even without our labor price
I did try MIG and they were like $6k. I should revisit that quote though. I feel like he quoted more for the ceiling that I was planning on (not that its a bad thing).
A friend of mine, who is a manager for Terminx, is supposed to be quoting me. Apparently he can get me close to his cost with the pest rated stuff. We’ll see, it sounds $$ but he claims they can beat most peoples pricing.
