My sponsored 78 shovelhead build thread

Not a lot of text, just some pictures… got the downpipe tacked up. Pics make it look a little “off” but I assure you, it’s “on”

Looks off. :stuck_out_tongue:

I want to ride this…

NICE!

Dan

Me too.

Thanks Dan.

I love it.

Looks beyond awesome. I’m not a motorcycle guy, but I would love to own this one. Can’t wait to see it in final form.

Looks great! Did I miss the paint scheme or is it a secret?

You’ve probably thought about this, but seeing the top-down picture, was there any consideration to the weight of the bike on the right side verses the left? Looks like the right side might be heavier? I don’t know bikes to know if that even makes a big difference since it all seems close to the center anyway.

Josh the whole clutch and primary drive belt and sprocket is missing from the left side of the bike.

Glad you guys dig it. Wheeling it out into the open and getting a good look at it really pumped me up.

Paint scheme still undecided. I might have the forks anodized the same brown/green color as the hubs.

Still have to build controls and figure something out w the brake.

Whats with the vise grips?

Also whats the plan for a stand? You probably cant bring the scrap bin on a ride with you.

Dan

Right turns only.

Looking good! Excited to see it all done.

You must have missed the post where I welded the scrap bin on as a sidecar.

The vicegrips are on there because I haven’t made an axle yet. They’re clamping on a thin plate with a hole in it that is the same size as the rod I have shoved in there now, just keeping the wheel from moving around.

i like this, fantastic work and craftsmanship like usual  give it that ice cream paint job

lol , yes.

And, ahha on the vise grips.

Knew I was missing something, lol.

I think a custom sidecar might actually be cool. Not on this bike, but a future project.

Springville Manufacturing again came through with a waterjet blank for me to toss on the bridgeport. This time for the brake rotor. New bridgeport runs so much nicer than our old Acer.

I didn’t have any flathead socket head machine screws so these bolts are temporary.

Shouldered lock washers under the bolt heads? For the rotor not the hub
