Haha. Josh I’d wind up with a lynch mob on me.
It would make for a GREAT show though…
Hey, I need one of the end caps for my pair of shinbuggers. I’d pay for the one end cap, or pay to have one duplicated… I have a scar up my one tricep from botching a rock drop in vermont on my DH bike. I will never sell mine.
I have an extra one but I’m not sure I want to part with it yet.
I made a spindle tonight for it (actually really simple)
I also stripped my motor bare. I sorta fucked up one of the cases. I really hope I can salvage it.
These pedals were a ton of money new, then you couldn’t give them away, now they’re gold. Let me know if you’ll let the other cap go, thanks.
How much do those pedals go for now?
I got a set for 200. I saw another set sell for 350.
and what makes them “so special”?
Mostly their rarity really.
Honestly I don’t much “care” about the rarity. I just did a very thorough search of platform pedals and when I saw these I knew they were perfect. The style is very close to my footpegs. I like that they’re made by a small shop in NY.
It makes it INTERESTING that they’re hard to find and rare, because it’s a good story, but that’s all.
For $2-3XX, I’d consider selling, shit. I figured $100 on the high side… Where did you see those listed, ebay?
Any progress?
Dan
Yea. Motor is out and machine work done. Starting reassembly this week. Paint soon as well.
How’d those carbs work out?
Have a few pictures and some info…
So I had the cases bead blasted and line bored, I also had a friend (who is a better aluminum welder than I am) weld on some material for an oil return for the turbo (a shot below of me milling it). I also added external oil returns for the heads, because I am using a HVHP pump
Then I had this pile of parts to install:
Parts
T&O 4.25" crank
Eagle rods
Wiseco 3.5" pistons
STD Heads, ported and polished
Morris Magneto
Andrews Grind 1 Cam
Jims Oversize Hydraulic lifters (had tappet blocks honed)
Jims Chromoly Pushrods
A million nickels and dimes
You can see the oil drains added in this shot:
Took me a while to get the right shims in for the crank endplay, but got that all worked out after a few hours of jacking around.
I had to abort work on the gearcase, as I didn’t have the right bolts for the oil pump, so i temporarily closed it up and started on the top end.
Starting to look like a motor finally.
Once I have the oil pump hardware I can button up the bottom end. There is so much shit in these motors that needs to be measured and lapped and shimmed, but it should be worth it in the end…
That’s the truth about building any engine, so much more than just slapping it together.
Dont know if you mentioned it in this thread but do you plan on riding it this season?
True but there are more shims in this engine than any other one I’ve built.
Yeah it’s supposed to be done by 9/13!!!
coming together nicely man. Really can’t wait to see/hear it run lol.
