My thursday night project...IS ALIVE!! updated with vid/pics

turned into an all night project.

just got this motor shipped in today at work, got home around 730 and went right to work. didnt finish until about a half hour ago.

my motor threw a rod bearing causing it seize up on me. my options were to rebuild it or buy a new engine, i found this engine for $300 on ebay. the stator cover is cracked due to the accident that left the bike totalled, but only visible damage to the motor.

while i was waiting formy engine i decided to do some work on it. i took off the superbike bars and replaced them with clip-ons, i painted the gas tank and front fender flat black. I also replaced the mirrors and wrapped the exhaust. i have few more things im waiting for, but the majority is done.

These are just some pictures when i first got it and you can see how it looks now.

i think it looks waaay better than when you got it. although, i do think it looks like it might be more difficult/dangerous to steer. that thing better fucking run tomorrow. (i guess, technically, today.) next step: new seat.

loosen the clip-ons and set the bars straight. I t will look MUCH better

it wont be very comfortable then, thats whole point of losing the superbars.

that bike looks so fucking hot i love it.

wayyyy better than all the lame sportbikes out there.

thanks, hopefully it will fire up tonight, i just picked up new plugs, oil, air filter, and a few other things. Im going to start on it right after work, the rain needs to hold off though!!!

thats pretty cool man, im liking it.

fuck u ashole pos y you gota make fun of me and my boyz we just out havin fun stuntin you just jealous we got the hot shit and yous a little faggot with no bike of youre own

are those the real expensive barend mirrors?

does it do wheelies? id straighten out the clip ons a tad bit more, other than that, i like it

lmao! newman has a bike doesnt he? He needs to cruise with us

the bar end mirrors were fairly cheap, got them off ebay for around $45 shipped.

no the bike doesnt wheelie, not yet at least. its my first bike and i only rode it for 3 weeks until it seized up on me.

back to the grind for the night, i can hear some thunder outside, i dont think im going to be taking it out tonight.

i will adjust the clip-ons accordingly once i can actually ride it and get a feel for how i want it. the way it is now is just a guess and i think i will straighten them more once its up and running 100%.

nice rob, im hoping to fire up my bike tomarrow ('75 CB550)

I really like the look of your bike! Reminds me of a Ducati monster, but probably without all the labor.
What model is that? I’m interested.

looks good, i would paint the heat wrap and the spot that the bar clamps where.

now was this just the same motor going back into it or bigger?

be a man and put the clipons below the upper triple tree.

looks 10x better

the title for the frame says 1990 Suzuki GS500, the motor is a 96. The rear swingarm is notched to fit a wider rear tire for the track. The passenger pegs were cut and removed, along with the rear tail section. Also a 636 tail light was added.

as for lowering the clip-ons, i wanted to, but the headlight bracket is in the way.

the motor is the same, from 89-08, the motors for the gs500’s never changed. They added an oil cooler in 96, but thats it.

ill have some pictures later of my old engine, the crank is junk since the rod bearing went, it scored it pretty bad along with the rod assembly. I also bent and intake valve, it wont seat properly now.

nice! I almost bought one of these a couple weeks ago, it was a 77 tho. I was going to rice it out cafe style and start my collection of bikes up.
