What people are saying is the original car posted is bogus, stock intake manifold, 250 horsepower with 240 torque?? the torque is way to high, and you’ll never do it with that intake maniflod.

I am then saying matt isn’t going to make the power he thinks he is, because he isn’t going to be spending $8000+

I have no clue who hector is, or if he even has his own car. I know very well what kind of power NA hondas can make, but unfortunatly that doesn’t mean any car can do it.

adam u speak of a sohc that u made that u were only able to hit 143 whp, i dont see why u were only able to make such small numbers with it .

stock sohcs usually dyno at about 110rwhp…so i gained 33rwhp…i would say thats pretty good IMO…with just bolt ons and a wild cam…

ok…how to get over 200rwhp…

1=HUGE cam
2=ported head
3=bigger valves, port and polish…all flowed to get max CFM
4=ditch the hydralic lifters, new valve springs
5=over bore engine to max you can even above 40 thou
6=custom HIGH compression pistons at least 14:1
7=forged rods
8=balanced crank and assembly
9=stand alone engine management
10=race gas
10a=all of the bolt ons you can do…

11=lots of silly timing
12=prayers engine will hold together a dyno pass to get over 200rwhp

lol, i never said i’d only put $1000 into the motor… and port and polish is free. so are cams, if you know somone who can regrind them…say a tool and die maker who happens to be a family relitive and used to make them…

exhaust and ecu? not the motor now is it…and hey a sheet metal intake is free too…or shit, quad throttle bodies if you happen to have a bike kicking around thats got a bad motor.

all i ever said was the internals. the motor cost me less than a $1000 to build, and based on whats in IT. not what i build myself or get built for me. it’ll hit that. But hey, myself, and all the local guys i know…who are much more accomplished and known that anyone i know of on this forum, or all the guys from the z car club and with there experiance with the sohc track car they have…which was built across the street from me…i guess they’re are all wrong…

whatever, i’m not going to argue about this anymore. like i said before i’ll make that motor hit 250 maybe not this year and maybe 3 or 4 motors down the road and with the help of forest and forest, if they’ll go for it…but i’ll do it.

needles to say, we need more threads like this…i think it’s the firstr real technical argument we’ve had in ages and it’s what people want to know.

what relevance does your buddy who has the fastest all motor crx have to do with anything.

this guy said he made 238 at the wheels with all OEM parts.

that all motor crx i highly doubt is using all oem parts.

i think you should look into whats required to make a GSR achieve 240 WHP all motor and it is not a sir intake manifold with siccc cams.

and i suggest you talk to rob and tell him he didn’t put those numbers down.

thanks for the offer, but the main building is done on this motor, except maybe a cam swap again. and a sheet metal intake i’ve been trying my hand at. I’ll push this one until it pop’s and then replace the weak spots on the enxt one and build the head.

Whats the purpose you ask? i don’t really know other than a learning lesson. I always learn the hard way and i can’t think of any beter way than to blow stuff up and rebuild it until i get it right.

And in all reality, i’m tired of fixing the car every few months becasue of new rust issues so this will be the last year it see’ the road, unless my lil bro, who i’m giving it to in august decides to swap motors…

tuning wise. i really can’t decide on a management system, i’ve looked at megasquirt, a technosquare remap, emanage and doing my own rom tuning on the stock ecu. any pro’s and con’s in or opinions are great…the megasquirt is no problem building…got access to the entire engineering staff at connestoga…man they built me one sick rc car when i was a kid…

frankly i’d love to do a KAS and i have access to a nice 3.8L gm unit…but at around 10:1 compression…maybe when i get sick of this setup…i dunno i just like having fun…and when somone says it’s impossble it makes it more fun…kinda like when your buddies says he’ll satb you if you go out with his sister and i makes you wanna do it more…
