NECC Race Car

Apparently customs isn’t letting loose parts come in in cars anymore.

I have some red LED washer nozzles that I could donate. Good for at least 3/10ths in the 1/4.

Oh yeah, make sure that the racing seat has adjustability for the taller/bigger folks in the club. :stuck_out_tongue: Custom rails to provide lots of leg room would be awesome! If you guys are really stuck I do have a pair of Z31 seats that provide some decent bolstering and support. Pretty damn comfortable too.

It’s about time. Nobody likes free riders, especially the gov’t.

I have an engine stand that has been sitting in my garage for 3 years since my swap. I’d like to get it back when you’re done, if you end up needing it. It is available.

Screw the system because it will screw you!

thats shitty to hear

It looks as though lots of the importers will be looking into container shipping now for parts.

Jared - thanks for the info about the engine stand.

Matt, would you be willing to part with your VG30 as a complete unit? Was just curious how involved a VG swap would be into a 240 body. Is the VG a significantly heavier motor?

I’m not sure how significant the weight difference is. I think that we could probably sell the one out of the parts car for pretty cheap, but I’ll have to talk to Andrew about that one. Or if we wanted NA power the NA engine out of the 85 would probably be good to go for free.

I’m pretty sure we’d want a turbo motor.

In fact, I’m 100% sure of it. This might sound silly, but are the 240 and Z31’s tranny’s the same? If not, will they bolt up together?

Chris i believe the transmission are the same as long as it’s a FS5W71C (All Z31 manual non-turbos used a 5 speed Nissan transmission (FS5W71C) which is quite reliable. This transmission is used in the 240SX, 180SX, Silvia, etc. A few people who have blown up their FS5R90As have swapped to this transmission and not had problems. A lot of 240SX owners have this transmission mated to their SR20DETs and KA24DETs running 400+ hp with no problems.

I found this on www.Z31.com @ z31.com | Transmission Information

Doh! I think I just got a roundabout “SEARCH, NOOB!” post…

Haha, they are total pricks on that site. It would take them 10 seconds to answer a question but they’d rather take 5 minutes to tear into someone. Assholes.

I’m also starting to think that a top mount turbo might be a better option for this car because I don’t think there will be room in the S13 for the bottom mount. This would really only involve having someone build an extension from the driver’s side manifold up to the turbo. So long as we know someone that welds for beer I can’t see it costing over 4 Bud Lights and 3 Sleeman Honey Browns. :E

Anyone want to witness the pickup of the race car tonight? Give me a call at home at 963-3576. I’ll be back in about an hour after I get the truck/trailer and I’ll call you back.

What time?

what did u buy?

A 89 240sx.

Not sure exactly what time Flavio, should be around 7-8 ish. Do you want me to call you on your cell? It’s apparently right off Whyte Ave and 100th street or something like that - I’d have to call everyone with the address unless Dave sees this.

I’d love to be there. An address and a time would be greatly appreciated. :E

Steve, the time should be around 7 ish and the address I’ll call you with on your cell.

Flavio, I’ll grab your cell number and give you a call to to see if you’d like to show.

Call me at 916-4852 when your picking it up.

Everyone who’s showed interest, I’ve got your numbers written down and I’ll call you as soon as I nail down the pick up time.
