One of my hard metal lines rusted out completely and started leaking. Where can I go? I have the entire old one to compare for the bends. This is on the Fiero.
Hmm there is this place some where around here that will make them out of stainless for reasonably cheep, The name just escapes me
Doesn’t have to be stainless, just a basic replacement. They way I look at it this is the original OEM line, and it lasted almost 20 years. The frame will rust out before the next 20 years.
There is a place called “Classic Tube”. They can make all kinds of stuf there…that’s where we get a majority of our lines at SSBC from.
go to advanced… buy line in bulk with the connectors on the end… start at the front, connect it and bend it yourself, just be careful not to crush the line, and dont do real hard bends… easy job.
:word:
good luck getting all the correct unions, etc - metric and standard is gonna pwn you hard
man i wish i still had my '84, i’d just take all the lines off and give them to you, already done
i dunno, i did them no problem… the hardest part was trying to measure out how much line to use… anyways, hope you get em done!
i did a bunch of cars with no problems. just bring the old fittings.
Ok, I’ll head up there tomorrow night. The line is for the front right wheel, so it’s only about 4 feet and I have both threaded ends in perfect shape. I’d just need to slide the connectors on and then add the flare to the ends.
im gonna have to do this with a clutch line on the civic. i got a little violent installing it and i broke it. oopsy. im glad to hear that its an easy fix.
braided stainless set up?? Ferry maybe. If this is something that needs to be hard mounted I think they can do brake lines (double wall steel) as well. Stop in and ask.
I was just looking through tech and realized I never updated this with the outcome. And since props are due to Monro, I’ll update it.
I ended up getting a pre-cut length from NAPA and a bender. Came home and after about 15 minutes realized the bender I had was never going to make the intricate bends I needed to get from the master cyl to under the car.
Took the old line to Monro at Transit and Main, they made me a perfect replica of the original and only wanted $5. I gave the guy $10 because I thought $5 was a little crazy. You can’t even stop for dinner at a fast food joint for $5.
