So I was putting in my fog lights and when i was putting the bumper back on i wanted to turn the wheel so i can reach the bolts easier. Well anyways while turning the wheel i heard a pop all of a sudden and now the steering wheel turns but the wheels dont at all. Im thinking its the rack and pinion but not sure was wondering if someone can let me know exactly what it is.
Imagine if that happened when you were driving the car…
Before my civic I had a dakota truck and the tie rod went on that while i was driving it was scary as hell
How the hell did this pass inspection?
Jack it up and move the tires see what moves and what don’t.
Yeah you’ll need to get under it and look.
i checked underneath it and the tie rods and cv axle are all still in and good i read around and asked a couple people and all signs point to rack and pinion
Can you actually see the connection of the steering shaft to the rack? Is it still connected?
it could be anywhere between the steering wheel and the u joint that connects to the rack (assuming tie rods and rack are still intact)
