Good day folks
I have a 2009 Frontier. I bought an 89 “Palamino” pop up camper. I would like to install a typical 12 volt battery in it that recharges from my system. Elsewhere I have read enough to think what I want is a “Travelux Dual” switch. Avail at CDN Tire # 510620. It seems to be not much more than a solenoid.
Install this whereever, but up front seems simplest. wire from pos on truck battery to one big on Travx other big Travx goes to 2nd battery pos. Neg post 2nd battery back to truck battery neg post. Small connection on Travx ( again remember this is a lot like a solenoid (apparently) ) goes to a wire in truck that is hot only when it is running. Other small goes to ground. So it seems that when truck is running the circuit is active and sending power back to 2nd battery. when not running the 2nd battery is now isolated and 2nd battery may be dead in a/m, but not truck’s.
If any of this is wrong and you know it please advise. I have 2 questions…How heavy a wire should I run back and forth between batteries? The only purpose of these wires ( I believe) is to recharge battery 2. question 2 where should I hook up the "only hot when running wire. I would prefer neat and not wreck anything .
Thanks for any advice
Boyd
