I have been rebuilding a KA24DE for future turboing. I am almost done, I just have to torque down the camshaft brackets. I hand tightened them all into place and proceeded to torque them down to 8 ft pounds. The first bold on #1 bracket I tighten down breaks off and leave the threats inside. Man what a bi*ch. Anyone have any good ideas? I tried drilling it out with a tiny drill bit and unscrew it but notta. Then I tried easyout but it won’t fit inside hole. I really don’t wanna scrap the head. I have invested a few hundered dollars into everything in it so far.
ANYONE PLEASE HELP, I am loosing my dang mind with this. I can’t even drill it right out and retap to a bigger size because the brackets won’t seat a bigger bolt.
call taylor and sons 905-840-2500 ask for larry, they can point you in the right direction to get that bolt out, or even take the head to them to have the bolt pulled out

thanks bro, thats last case resort, I wanna try and get it out with the head attached to the block still. The more I think bout it the more I come to reolize I am gonna have to take it all apart again
try a smaller size easy out with the proper sized drill… you can also get left hand twist drills… sometimes just drilling with that will remove the bolt. Ive even had luck with those grabbit things from ct… i was skeptical at first, but it actually worked. also there are square style extractors that are hammered into the drilled hole. they tend to be a bit stronger.
