Need help ppl

I have a 240sx 89 coupe. My car doesn’t have pickup. I’ve tried adjusting the timing, but that doesn’t help much. Does anyone know what could be the problem? PLS help me ppl. I will be really appreciated. Maybe the person that finds out the reason should get a reward. I have to think of the reward though. Well PLS PM me or reply back thanx. The car will take along time to reach 100km/h. Normally when u slam on the gas it will just accelerate. Well my car is Automatic and the tranny is fine because i’ve just replaced that. Anyone can help?

Maybe it’s time for a full tune up. And an engine swap.

Alright, who was it that said that a ‘beginner’ and ‘advanced’ tech section wasnt necessary?

Winner, I dont think that is enough information for anyone to really give you an idea of what is wrong, if anything at all. Your best bet is to get someone to drive it who knows their 240’s, and give you an informed opinion then.

I’ve already checked the spark plugs and the wires. They are fairly new. Also i’ve did a compression test and they were all good. How can u tell if the engine is good or not then?

The KA is a truck motor, it’s got no pickup, at least in the low-end.

And yea, like everyone else, I suggest a full tuneup and see if that helps
any. Otherwise, post more details on your car and exact problem.

I would suggest a throttle body clean, check fuel injectors and an engine flush. Also check the other threads in this forum for tips and edvice on restorng the power to your 240

I had similar issues that took me 2 months to figure out. I need more info. Is it bogging, rough idle, sputtering and misfiring, running rich. Does it feel like the engine wants to go but can’t…etc. If ur at a meet, i’ll take a look if u like.

It seems my car’s got turbo lag, without the turbo.

In 1st, from low rpm to like 3000, there’s no pickup and then around 3K
or so, it just kicks in.

I think it’s just normal.

thats not normal…mine did the same…its hesitating correct?

Timing it has to be timing. Well doesnt have to be but that was my problem i did the timing to 16 degreese BTDC and took it for a spin was complete ass i had huge backfires and went back at the timing was at 6 degreese ATDC ??? Distrubutor was toight. So i did it again and i did it many different combonations with TPS, Idler Switch, Idle Control, Pluged in and Unpluged and finally one combanation of the three did the trick i only wich i remember which one. :x

Another thing is check the ECU Error Coded those can be very helpful at times while trying to diagnose the problem. If not man just bring it to your shop and get your mechaninc to look at it.
