need help with 2002 honda CBR 600 F4i (fuel pump related?!)

Recently i got T-boned on my bike (17 year old kid in an SUV made a left right in front of me)

My front rim hit his rear rim and i went flying. The front forks are trashed and the front rim is really pushed in (no frame damage but the tire is wedged and does not currently move)

I pretty much have the bike sold but the kid wants to hear it run before he buys it. When i start it all the lights turn on and the tach does the start to finish deal. but the usual fuel pump buzz i hear for a second does not come on so something is not right with the priming. The bike still turns over and wants to start but sounds like there is no combustion. I have already disconnected the fuel pump wires and tested them out and it works fine…

Is there some fuel shut off or anything once the bike has been down? I checked the fuse labeled “bank angle sensor” and it looks fine…

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!

When I had my bike apart for about a month and put it back together, the same thing happened. Nothing was wrong at all, but it just wouldn’t start. I’m not sure why I decided to do this, but I took the stubborn route and let the bike turn over until the battery died twice and it eventually fired up. Weird I know, but it worked.

I’m sure someone on here will have a little trick to try. Might need new plugs, though. Was it ever started after the crash?

thanks for the info but the battery already died twice lol i think i may have found the issue… as per cbr forums:

ok, dont worry, i will try to explain:

fuel pump: when you turn the ignition key to on you should hear a sound coming from the fuel pump, like a robot moving, BVVVVVVVVVVV, something like that. its very hard to explain online. this sound occurs at the same time as the needle of the tachometer does its little dance all the way up and back down to 0.

if you are not hearing this sound, more then likely you cannot start the bike because of the cut fuel source.

now, the tilt sensor is located in the upper cowl, where the headlights are located, if you disconnect the whole upper cowl, you are also disconnecting the tilt sensor. this sensor is used for safety purposes, the way it works is if your bike is on its side against the floor, the tilt sensor notices this and tells the fuel pump to cut the fuel source to turn the bike engine off.

Word. Let us know how it works.

My bike didn’t turn off when it crashed. It was suspended by trees and never actually tilted over. :frowning:

did you try it did it run yet?

be careful on those dang motorcycles…

are you ok?
