need some help with my stereo system

I have a 95 with the active sound system and here is the problem. the front speakers (all 4) cut out occasionally then cut back in so i only have sound from the rear.

Someone suggested that i toss the stock amp and wire the fronts to my deck? I am not too sure where to stand on this and if anyone could provide any help with wiring or instructions on how to go about it would be helpful.

I am not too good with wiring so if anyone wants to give me a hand i can buy u some smokes or something.

Do you have a Factory headunit or Aftermarket?

Please tell me everything that is done to your audio system.

I have a similar prob, except my rear speakers cut out, not the front.

Is there a factory ampliflier somewhere in the car, if so where?

I thought it was a wiring problem, so I was gonna redo it.

You should just pay Adam and I do re-wire everything in your cars.

that way you will have no problems,

but ya really, guy just list exactly what is in the car. so we know what we are working with.

With the active speaker system, your headunit is basically a pre-amp… wiring the speakers directly to it will do nothing for you.

If they are cutting out, most likely you just need to give them a good cleaning, and check all the connections.

Benson/Adam - how much do you guys charge?\

My entire system is pretty much stock, I only have a kenwood cd/mp3 deck. I am thinking of adding a single sub tho? Thanks…

Since you have an aftermarket deck, wire the fronts up to the deck and you’ll be good as gold.

stock amp is in the trunk (s14). like the guys said, if u have an aftermarket deck, just hardwire the speakers directly to the wires on the deck. or u can use a 4 channel amp for the interior speakers, and a mono amp for a sub (thats my set up). just make sure u have a good deck with 3 sets of RCA outs.

another way to do it is splice the wires BEFORE they reach the stock amp, and then run wires under your center console/ carpet directly to your deck. thsi way u can use the factory wires, if they are in good condition. deteriorated wires can also cause your speakers to cut out.

does anyone think they can help me do this? I dont want to fuck it up more really…

grey gandalf do u still have those tokico blues?

it’s not really difficult, just annoying

Buy some 14-16 gauge wire, attach it to the speaker outs on your deck… they should be well marked.

Take off your doorskins, rip out the stock amps and wires. You may need to actually leave the amps in there to mount the speakers to like in the S13. If so, just disconnect the amps, and run the new speaker wire through the bundle that runs into your door (that’s the annoying part - you may want to try a coathanger and string to get it through)

Connect it to the speakers, put it back together and bada bing, you’re done.

thanks axlerod im gonna try this in my shop!!

Sure, if you have any probs, you can pm me for my phone #

u may wanna upgrade all your oem speakers, if u are gonna go through all this trouble. most oem speakers will blow when wiring an aftermarket deck to them, because they cannot handle the power (trust me, i know this from experience). do u have the upgraded stereo w/6x9’s in the rear deck and 2 tweeters in the front? u can tell by looking at your front A-pillars and see if there is a mesh cover that looks like it protects tweeters. my old s14 had that set up, but i didn’t get a chance to mess with it. my current s14 has 6.25" all around. btw, i still have all 4 6.25" oem speakers lying around, if u want them, i’ll give u them for cheap.

i can also help you wire up everything, but to do it properly, its close to a full days work. and i still have my tokico blues, check your pm’s
