New Lens = Photo's

Why???
You would still be about a grand short and MarkIII wont make you take better pics if you dont know how to use it

^^ true you also wouldn’t have any lenses to use either. Well except for your 50mm unless you were including that in the lenses your selling.

Baby steps…shoot with the XTi till you feel its holding you back not your holding the camera back.

i know my way around the markIII. i would have time to learn more about it during that time that i would be saving the $ to get it. honestly it would be a while before i got it

i have been looking at the 70-200 IS alot recently

i just saw it on your list 05XRunner. any comments as to how it performs?

Stick with the XTi
I dont have the 70-200 IS…I have the Sigma 70-200 2.8 and it performs just as well as the non IS canon as I have used them all.

i am going to for a while but i know in a few year i will want to upgrade

Dont mind me … Just sharing my first attempt at a night/lighted shot

Looks grainy to me … Could be photobucket … even though the high res looks better … its still not 100% clear.

EDIT:
The moon looked pretty cool tonight as well. Thought I would attempt to try this as well.

i’m a huge fan of better glass before a better body. Don’t need to really upgrade til you’ve maxed out the camera body your currently using.

x2 haha.

hey mike the pics are looking good. except for the grain. what iso where u shooting at?

I want to see mike try to take a picture that good while the gauge above 40psi. :tounge:

I noticed that lastnight, too. Looked neat, then the cloud rolled by.

im drunk

LOL. I would love to get a picture like that at 60psi … Or anything high on the gauge! But I don’t think that will happen! LOL

Mike
I was between 100 and 200 ISO. I was switching back and forth between the too. I’m not sure why they turned out so grainy

because its underexposed. Doesnt matter how low of n ISO you shoot…if you dont expose properly you will get noise in the image. noise shows up in dark shadow areas alot more as well
in the first pic its not bad because the gauge was metered for the exposure so thats why the numbers are so bright…Now the 2nd pic has more noise because it looks like the metering came off the numbers so they are properly exposed leaving the rest of the guage underexposed and giving more noise on the face

Man night/light shooting is tough! I’m decent at shooting during the day … But this was my first attempt at night stuff … I suck LOL

if you really want to shoot the gauge at high boost then get a suction mount or a majic arm. They are under $150 from b&h. Just mount it to the window and fire away. You’ll need to prefocus so that you won’t have to worry about the camera hunting for focus at night.

or you can sit in the backseat with someone else driving…easy
there is no chance the camera will hunt at all when focusing on the lit up gauge…there is TONS of contrast there for it to snap to it no problems…if it doesnt then there is a problem

haha he has no back seats. but you can use my sticky pod

x2 on no backseats …

Thanks Mike! … Lets let something up dude!!

If he wants a shot with it staying at 40lbs then yes he can hand hold it but taking a shot with it reaching up there he’ll need a mount.

As for the camera not hunting for AF there is a possibility it could hunt. I had that problem when I was trying to do my interior car shots and I was trying to get my camera to focus on my lit headunit. Granted my setup was just a tripod set up in my hatch. It took up the whole hatch being spread out but under a load your going to get vibrations movement. A constant speed I was fine but didn’t get the nice trail on the speedo and tach.

These are raw shots. These were just tests for a contest.

I drove thru a sprinkler that was pointed at the street on this one.

the XT doesnt have the best AF system out there…it is easy to make that thing hunt
