so waht is the solution? how do you unlock it… he doesn’t even have the car anymore… knowing ahead of time the part was useless (if the car is required to unlock) he may be the one furthest from the jury.
but in reality… it’s 180 bucks… he should just man up and return the cash or figure out how to ‘unlock’ it…
unlocking means u hook it back up to that same car, and progam back to stock tune, then it frees up the hand held tuner, just like a hypertech i belive
i belive they are just like the hypertechs, once u do a cars vin into it, its locked to that vin, unless you hook it back up to that car, and delete the tunes and the cars vin from the programmer, then its able to be used on another car
they make them car specific, or 1 person could buy one, and go and tune everybodys car, and Predator or Hypertech would make no money
jeez what a rip off. its pointless to let a friend borrow it if u got put ur car back to stock for him to tune his to only have to put it back to give it back…
thanks Bravada…and to answer the two jason question its the one spelled RUBIN.
The only way to “unlock” it for him to physically plug it in and download his original Ford stock tune back, which erases the memory in the tuner itself. It “marries” itself to each individual car or these people wouldnt sell as many since we all would share the thing’s computer reflashing abilities. It was smart design, but people like me buying use get stuck if the person who used it last didnt put it back to stock as the manual clearly reads. I think he just did it wrong as there are two steps, one to reflash the computer with the Ford tune, and one that ensures it’s blank and ready to use. The setting says “last tune written” and if it doesnt read “no last tune written” it’s still married to the original car. His pride tells him he did it right since he was able to run diagnostics on a “buddy’s car” but if this what truly happened, the tuner will let you read trouble codes and run simple diagnostics on a different car, you just cant use it to install any performance mod tunes. Thats where I am with this one. He has to plug it into his wrecked car, if thats what really happened as he said, and deinstall it correctly. He tried to tell me I didnt know what I was doing and how was he supposed to know I didnt mess it up when I plugged it in? Reading the above and knowing this is my 3rd predator, you guys might realize I understand the basics of how it works and most likely have been completely truthful about it being locked and he is at fault.
no blue is fucked because he now is out 180 bucks and has a usless programmer because there is no way in hell a jury will ever take his side. shit even small claims he would be fucked
Kinda but from a sales standpoint…they sell 10 times more since no sharing can be done. It takes maybe 10 minutes to do the whole thing, and since I had a out of town friend who wanted to try it, I let him use mine. its that easy, and I just told him keep it and I’ll buy the other one (from Jason) as I didnt need it right away. It made him happy to have one right there and not go thru searching, and I sold it to him for the same price as I bought Jason’s. I was helping a buddy and got screwed for it…shit my fingers are tired now.
Just refund me Jason…I have not lied to you and have not mislead you whatsoever. Do the right thing and refund me tonight. No shit about how can you trust me to mail it back…we’re too far gone for that menial crap. You will get it back immediately but I want paypal money back before it leaves. If that isnt fair you guys tell me so.
he never had a wrecked car other than the one he hit the wall with at PRP at launch. he never had a white cobra either. shit he might have just stolen it from someone else
:ugh: I was wandering who that was that bounced off the wall. I was there that day. It seems like this could’ve been all avoided if blue or whatever his name is would’ve either refunded the money or figured out a way to unblock it so this new dude could use it. The simplest things turn out to be complete headache
