Car > wannabe truck.

As per the DSG discussion, the gearbox is nothing short of phenominal, I have zero doubts that Audi’s DSG is the best clutched sequential “street” box on the market. It’s better than everything Ferrari has up until the F430/Enzo box (havent been in either) it’s better than BMW’s SMG (I, II, or III), and the auto in their 335i, etc. Fantastic gearbox, seamlessly on the power, combined with PERFECT downshifts at all revs, it’ll make anyone a cleaner driver. What’s not to like? (Oh, and it’ll hold gears, and bounce the rev limiter and drives like a manual).
I understand what DSG does and I appreciate it because it is a fantastic technology.
All things considered, I would still rather row through the gears on my own with a manual transmission.
Call me a purist.

On that note, I would take this car with DSG in a heartbeat. It’s just that hot.

i wanna dip my balls in it

So what? It’s the truth. I like the feel of a manual. That is all I buy.

blah blah blah

Unless you can operate TWO clutches and TWO shift levers (two gear packs) at once…

DSG > *

i.e. 2nd gear stays engaged WHILE 3rd gear clutch is being engaged and then 2nd gear clutch disengaged all within 8 ms.

OK, got all that pesky blood out of my caffein stream. So since you’re challenging my posts as incorrect, lets resume our intelligent discussion.

Part 1: car > wannabe truck.

You seem reasonably intelligent, so I’m sure we can both agree that a sweeping conclusion like that does not apply to all situations. Since we are referring to my having traded my Jetta for an Xterra, what is it about MY situation that makes a car the better vehicle? I was under the impression that I needed a larger vehicle for maintaining my home, such as when I brought home 20 2x4’s and 300 pounds of concrete bags in one trip on Saturday, or when I brought home a shelving system in a large box on Sunday. There are other various reasons, but if you can argue which vehicle is best for me then you must be familiar with my personal situation and the needs and desires that the vehicle must fulfill. Please enlighten me as to what it is about my personal situation that makes a car the superior vehicle.

Also, you claim this is a wannabe truck. How does an inanimate object claim to be something at all, much less something it is not? It is what it is, and in the case of a 2007 Nissan Xterra, it is of the type of vehicle classified as a “Sport Utility Vehicle.” Sometimes these are referred to as “trucks” as they are typically based on the design and major components of a pickup truck, as is the case of the Xterra which is based on the Nissan Titan.

Part 2: Explanation of why you prefer DSG.

I’m confused. I stated that I prefer a traditional manual transmission. You stated that I would prefer a DSG, but then presented reasons why YOU prefer a DSG. Preference is an intrinsically personal thing, so if you are going to argue that I should prefer something I don’t you need to argue how something else better fulfills that which I desire and value, not that which you desire and value.

So lets procede.

What is my personal situation, and how does a car better fulfill my needs and desires?

What is it that I value that a DSG better fulfills than a traditional manual transmission?

You’re wrong, James. MPD47 knows more about everything than you do. Even your opinions are wrong, stupid-head.

That’s an impressive technical design, and better for competition I’m sure where all that matters is how fast you get to the finish line, but my personal preference is to have the challenge of both modulating a clutch pedal and changing the gear. So in the case of my personal enjoyment, DSG is not greater than a traditional manual transmission.

He’s also an expert on track procedure. For instance, if you get passed by someone in an inferior vehicle, that person should be kicked off the track.

God I’m in love with the interior.

You really are a fucking idiot. While I can laugh with K Cuv and Bikerfry everytime you post it makes me wanna choke the kitten that’s sitting next to me. Please dead yourself before more stupidity flows from your mouth.

Don’t get pissed at me because you got passed by a Ford Focus.

Way to keep it on topic in GA, fucking moran.

Back to the car.

Pure sex.

I do too like to throw gears myself. But why cant the uber german engineers create a manny to handle that power. or steal a t-56.

I figured the purist makers of the nazi sleds would understand the purist manual tranny ways.

Who said a manual couldn’t handle the power?

Sorry I found it. I chose to ignore it for the stupidity it displayed.
The reason they use it is so the tranny lasts, as they don’t currently make a manual that can handle the power. Would I rather have a manual yes, does it having dsg detract from it’s hotness? NOPE

I wasnt even driving asshat, I was helping someone who had ZERO time on track and we were passed on the inside of a corner with no point by while following other traffic. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Fucking idiot. Why dont you actually show up to some meets/bbqs/track days before making assumptions?

Edit, sorry Howie, didnt see your post.
