New Rules for cars participating in drag racing in 2006

The NHRA 2006 Rule book now requires Fire Jackets for drivers of NON-OEM Blower, NON-OEM turbo, and NOS powered cars.

“10.00 and SLOWER; all E.T. non-OEM supercharged, non-OEM turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars with an OEM or .024-inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory”

10.00 and slower cars without full OEM or .024 firewall: a 3.2A/5 jacket AND 3.3/1 gloves Mandatory.

other NOS, Turbo and Blower clothing requirements;

closed bodied cars 9.99 and faster with OEM or .024 steel firewall - 3.2A/5 jacket and panets, as well as 3.3/1 gloves

9.99 and faster closed bodied cars without OEM or .024 steel firewall - 3.2A/15 jacket and pants, gloves and shoes 3.3/5

This means that ANYONE who has a non-stock turbo by any means needs to have a firejacket in order to pass tech at the strip. .

Whether or not NYIRP or Lancaster will actually enforce this remains to be seen. But for you drag racers out there, something to consider.

what thats gay

glad mine came turbo stock then :stuck_out_tongue:

im bettin neither NYI or Lancaster will follow through.

LOL,I dont see either track following through as they are both IHRA tracks.

When they say non oem turbo does that include turbo cars with non oem turbos?
For example Evolutions with after market turbos.:snky:

 Good addition

It’s ok, this is one reason why I kept my A/C in the car

a fire jacket is only 50 bux from summitt and they actually look kinda cool

It’s ok, the rule does not apply to your car in the first place.

ha i doubt it, they wont know the difference

Hmmm time to stock up on jackets for the boys

gloves and shoes, check

we could just all be like realdeal…I SWEAR MY Z IS STOCK!

Meh both NYI and Lancaster let people wear shorts when racing which is a big no no. I doubt this would get enforced around here.

hell yea!!!

It makes me think of that video where the camaro sits at the line waiting for a couple seconds.:biglaugh:

Fridays are more strict, tuesdays it seems like everyone wears shorts.

In case anyone didnt see my post…

Lancaster and NYIRP = IHRA tracks. The NHRA rules Rx3 posted DO NOT APPLY TO THEM.
