Well I figured I’d make a build thread about my 1991 Nissan 240sx SE. I probably won’t go into alot of detail about everything I do to the car but I’ll post some pictures along the way.
Here’s some basics of what I have:
-Series 1 RB25DET with Skyline 5-speed transmission
-SYKO engine/transmission mount kit
-Aluminum 1-piece driveshaft
-HKS intake
-BRM stainless steel 3" exhaust with 14" resonator and dual tips
-Megan Racing 3" down pipe and test pipe
-Nismo adjustable fuel pressure regulator with pressure gauge
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-S14 leather seats front and back
-New black carpet
-Joe P manual boost controller
-Autometer boost/vacuum gauge
-S14 radiator
-Flex-a-lite dual electric fans
-HKS fan controller
-S13 Silvia conversion in progress
Here are some pictures:

I have more pics and random stuff HERE.
This is where I’m at right now:
Silvia front end conversion parts:
Painted and cleaned up the engine bay:
Installed a new clutch plate (Act 6-puck sprung) and dropped the motor in:
Motor in… notice the new Intake mani ;D
The valve covers are at Powdertech right now, hence the red rags to cover the cams
More to come!

With the new Greddy intake manifold I had to extend/shorten some parts of the engine wire harness, so I decided to re-measure and modify the main engine harness, the injector harness and the lower engine/transmission harness all for a better fit, and a slight wire tuck where it wasn’t to difficult. All new loom, heat shrink and Scotch 33+ electrical tape.
Here’s a shot of the main engine harness, this thing is ridiculously long:
Here’s a pic of my FMIC and piping. I’m just test fitting it now to make sure I have/get all the right parts to make it work, and modify my bumper cover and support. And yes I will be cutting those 90deg bends down quite a bit.
I also bought a custom power steering pressure line that fits better with the RB power steering pump. In this pic you can see the 90deg bend into the power steering pump and way back under the turbo you can see the other 90deg fitting going into the steering rack.
Just throwing the Silvia front on to get an idea how it might look (only a couple bolts holding it on). I don’t care to much for the front bumper, it’s rounded a little too much for the coupes squarish look. It will probably look better black though.
Fabbed up some top mounts for the intercooler.
This bumper support came with the Silvia parts and was pre-cut, fits perfect! There isn’t too much strength to it so I’ll probably weld some reinforcements.
Here are some pictures of the engine with the valve covers after powdercoating. I had them done at Powdertech and the color is Black Chrome.
And a shot of the front. I still need another coupler and I have to get a better 90deg pipe for the outlet of the intercooler. There is still quite a bit left to do before I can start it up.
Update!
Ok so I ran into some problems:
-
My sister smashed her car up so I had to rebuild the front end on that, so that was priority for the past 3-4 weeks.
-
The FPR was incorrectly set and timing was off by ~5deg so it was running lean and after a quick rip around my road (didn’t know it was lean) my exhaust manifold and exhaust housing on the turbo was cherry red hot!
-
Fixed the timing/fuel lean condition, installed a z32 maf in a blow-through setup, ran my BOV to atmosphere, and it ran sooo good until -pop-. Sounded like a small vacuum hose popped off as it sounded the same time as I shifted. It still ran but no boost pressure. So I checked all the hoses and everything was fine, idled nice and revved smooth under no load. Turbo wasn’t red hot. Took off my intake pipe and saw this:
The blades on these turbos are ceramic so they can’t take a good beating, but I think when the turbo was red hot it reduced the lifetime a lot. So I’ll have to get another turbo, the turbo I really want is like $1300 and I’m just trying to get my car back on the road, so I’ll get a stocker for now.
I’ll be shooting primer on the car this weekend and some other small body work too. I also built a 12x20 paint booth so I don’t have to use so much plastic to cover everything.
Another turbo should be here Tuesday. Primer is all finished, hoping to get the single stage paint done by the end of the week.
Here’s some pics from my brother’s phone:

More pics in a day or two.
Some pictures after primer:
Was very busy this weekend, driving the car around alot, lil bro’s grad party, family, ect.
Got the car almost 100% together. It needs a buff on the paint, some touch up with the paint gun, and some little things. But it seems to be running great.
I just took this picture earlier this evening, pretty crappy pic but I’ll take another tomorrow maybe.
Moar Pics!
New grill is on the way.
Took some pictures on the way to work this morning:
Also, found a nasty boost leak in my MAF housing (they’re not made for a blow-through setup) so in the morning I’m going to make an aluminum housing, hopefully it works out.
Earlier in the week some old lady rear ended me on Balltown Rd after work, it just scratched my bumper pretty good. I’ll be getting about $900 from the insurance company but will fix it myself, just have to go to Schenectady Autobody for some supplies ;D
So on my way back from lunch at Taco Bell I slammed it into 2nd gear heard a horrendous noise from the VLSD diff, sounded like the gears inside broke in half. I coasted off of Balltown Rd and it kinda moved under it’s own power but bucked really bad and sounded even worse. So I called a tow truck and my friends that were riding with me called this chick we work with to pick them up. I called my boss and told him what happened and that I won’t be able to make it back today and that I’ll just use a few hours of personal business :banana
The rear diff was a little whiny after I installed and it was getting a little worse but I didn’t think it would do this right away!
Got the car towed back to my place and pulled the diff out to see this:
Hmm yummy metal shavings! I didn’t get a pic but the magnetic drain plug was LOADED up with a shit-ton of metal lol.
So after all this shit, I pulled out my spare diff courtesy of w.Tungsten and swapped it in. It just happens to be a welded diff ;D Yeah it skips around turns and what not, but it’s hella fun to slide around in!
Beat status:
Another shell, KAAZ installed
