Check offsets on those sportmax’s. To look halfway decent you need no higher than a +15
That’s the thing, they’re 35. I’ll have to space them out a bit to fit in the front anyway.
Meh I don’t know. +20 +35 isn’t that bad, but it’s not amazing.
17/18 x 9 +35 isn’t bad at all. 17/18 x 8.5 +35 is a lot worse.
18x8 +40
WTF @ the White E36 in that XXR ad.
eww
just saw the 502. probably 18x9.5 would look pretty good.
I won’t be able to fit 9.5 without pulling the fenders
You won’t be able to fit 8 with suspension without rolling fenders. I regret my purchase. I should have gone with 17x7.5 with 225s cuz now I have a serious body work dilemma. Please learn from my mistake…
It depends on the offset also. There are plenty of people running 18x8.5 with a 35mm offset with 225-235 tires on stock suspension and coil-overs. I will need a 5mm spacer in the front to clear the strut and I plan on buying coilovers at the sametime. Probably by the end of the week.
With stock suspension you can fit 17x8 (front) and 17x9 (back), offset around 35, without stretching the tires and you can drop the car a couple inches without rolling or pulling the fenders.
I’m pretty much set on the Sportmax 507’s in chrome, 18x8.5 35offset all the way around with 225/40-18 Nitto 555 tires. And some kind of coilovers, either Megan or something around that price. I was going to buy a set of used Work wheels or SSR wheels, but for about $1200 for beat wheels and used tires and another $400-$600 for a 5 lug conversion I’d rather get new wheels and tires that look decent. I’m not trying to go all JDM TYTE with a -15 offset and riveted overfenders. It’s a summer daily driver, not a crazy track drift machine. I do like to slide around corners though :ninja
Here’s an example of 17x9, they seem to fit really nice. I wanted these wheels but they don’t make that size in hyper silver. 4th post down.
I probably would of done a staggered setup with 8’s in the front though. That guy needs to get a different spacer in fronts too.
What about powdering a used set?
I could do that, I’m not sure how good chrome powder coating would turn out. I’ll keep looking for used wheels and if I can find a set for a decent price I might pick them up.
hmmmI know you said gloss black was too much black for you, but how about black chrome? Like your valve covers?
How much did it cost you to get those done anyways? I might as well do that now.
it was like $80 for both valve covers and a couple small brackets. It was like a 2 week wait too, at Powdertech.
2 weeks? Wow. It took 3 days to get my 18’s done (back when I had the grand prix)
Yeah they had a hard time getting the residual oil out of the valve covers, that was a few days, and I guess they were really busy. I do have a friend that has a powder coating system, but he hasn’t tried it out yet. I’ll have to give him hand and see if we can get some good coatings out of it.
I’m still trying to make my mind up on wheels, and I think I’m going to go with 17x8 (front) and 17x9 (back). They will fit with no spacers needed and I can run the correct size tire without stretching. 18’s are too big and I’d rather have something pretty wide. I’m thinking the Sportmax 006, in gunmetal. If I really don’t like the color I’ll get them powder coated over the winter.
Also for the coil-overs, I think I’m going to go with Megan Racing Street’s. I’ve read alot of good about them and the car won’t be a track car so the only real reason for coil-overs is a drop.
You can have my valve covers. I’ll clean em out and you can practice on them. Does he have a sandblaster too?
Yeah a pretty sweet sand blasting cabinet.
You know Jeremiah can sandblast himself, right?
Yeah, but Jer is like an hour away from my place.
