I’m not going to lie, I would do the same, except I would have never bought an automatic…your friend shouldn’t even be trying to race shit if he bought an auto cobalt. Take you neon and play chicken with him.

Most automatics that are mated to 4 poppers aren’t designed to handle much torque.

Nitrous injection tends to make 1.5 to 2 times the amount of torque as horsepower (for example, a 100 shot on a mild 5.0 is known to make 200lb/ft of torque).

I’ll predict right now that the transmission won’t last a month.

Huh what? About nitrous making torque? Here’s one dyno graph example:

Dudes running a mild 5.0 (75K central coast mustang gt40p longblock,ecam,cobra intake,30#inj,maf,190 fuel pump as quoted from Stangnet) with a 100 shot from a Nitrous Express wet kit.

He went from 330lb/ft of torque N/A to 530lb/ft of torque on the 100 shot.

Yeah, I’m not exactly an expert on FWD automatics mated to four cylinders, but I’d imagine that they aren’t designed to handle over twice the amount of stock torque. In my experience nitrous is pretty hard on any automatic because of all the torque, and I’d think it would be even more damaging to a transmission that’s designed to handle what, 130lb/ft?

same motor, but im not sure if he has the R12 tranny that comes in the cobalt
