yeah she made 420/400 n/a and 570/610 on the 150
jesus, bravo.
im looking to be hitting just over 210whp WITH the nitrous haha, so i cant imagine.
dont really know how to judge what the torque will be at.
a dyno run may be in the future when all is said and done.
ran into a little hiccup today. after driving to and from the hospital (im doing some work there this week) i decided to pop my hood right after shutting off the engine to just check everything out and see it things are still in place.
low and behold i saw fuel squirting upward like someones jugular vein was just pierced! haha
i grabbed a rag and took a look, it turned out to be my fpss. very odd. since the car was off, no more pressure was being added and it eventually drained out and stopped squirting. so i popped off the little cap the covers the adjustable portion of the the fpss and there happened to be a little pool of a fuel inside it.
i cleaned it off and did a few tests. with the car running, nothing leaked. with some light revving, nothing leaked. but as soon as i shut the car down completely, the area under the cap began to fill with fuel. the little cap that usually sits on it has a tiny pinhole on it, which caused the jugular vein action lol.
so i called jegs and explained the problem, he said immediately that it sounded like a faulty switch, awesome. after some pushing and pulling, and a little exaggerated frustration, i got them to send me a new switch free of charge. weird part, they just asked me to throw the old one out, i know its useless, but still, weird, i figured they’d want it. they said the new switch should be here by wednesday. lets hope this one doesnt leak on me.
heres the little pinhole that acted like a quentin tarantino death scene. i really wish i could have got a video of it, as momentarily shocked as i was, it was quite hilarious.
this is the little adjustable reservoir that filled up with gas
luckily i had an extra 1/8npt plug from my purge adapter, so ill be set and driveable until wednesday, still havent sprayed.
What pressure is that switch rated for? It may just be the wrong switch for your application.
http://www.holley.com/data/Products/Technical/A5089-SNOS.pdf
it a 50psi swtich, and its JEGS brand. so, idk… :gotme:
if the next one is faulty ill likely go with holley/nos
UPDATE!:
i did my first few runs, woohoo! and by few i mean 7! all went very well. i was sitting fairly rich (10.2-10.4 area) but nitrous pressure was also very low. my first run i was in the 700psi range, and by the 7th i was just under 600. my heater should arrive in just a few days. once i have the pressure around 950, ill hopefully be comfortably in the 11’s, right where i want it.
very happy. will keep updating as things move forward.
More goodies! got a nice little care package from dave-o in the mail today.
hella 75 shot and other punk goodies
he sent me a bunch of studs, and a pin! woot!
.024 fuel jet and .042 nitrous jet
and last but not least, what i actually ordered, a bottle heater. its kinda scrambled, im gonna have to do some soldering, and theres no thermostat assembly. although for what im trying to do, i dont need one. im going to just wire it to a switch so that i can watch bottle pressure, and when its at an optimal level, i can turn it off (bypass the thermo). i know the risks (kaboom), but im not a forgetful dumbass. i even got a ricer switch with the led thing to let me know its on. when the bottle it open, ill have it run, then shut it off when im done.
should be wired by the end of the night.
oh, and i got my replacement jegs fpss in the mail today too
got my bottle refilled today by JW Motorsports. Real chill guy. I hung out around his shop for about a half and hour talking about cars, nitrous, drag racing. Hes the cheapest nitrous filler around buffalo (5/pound) and trying to get more business. Said he can hook it up a bit cheaper too if we get a few bottles/people goin. So if anybody wants to group up, lmk.
boy does the right psi make a huge difference. im finally feelin the sauce, baby!
at 1050psi my afrs were a dead 12, im thinking that may just be a tid tad high.
so ill probably try to run with a consistent 950 bottle pressure, whichll keep me in the mid-high 11’s.
very happy tho! Feelin very quick and has lots of torque.
sprayed more than a handful of times now and it glorious
on a 50 i held fairly close with a turbo spec although he did pull away top end of 5th. All i can say is a 75 shot is going to be very, very fun.
things i have planned coming up soon:
- weld in electric cutout
- cutout wiring
- remove heat wrap from header and check for and leaks/crack
- re-weld header if needed
- re-wrap header
- MAJOR wire tuck, much needed
- possibly a battery relocation to trunk, possibly
nice bob cant wait to see it…
header was cracked as i thought
no more purdy wrap
it was on the back of the collector (engine side), so it definitely had to be removed to fixed. its was only about a 1/4 inch crack along the weld, but looked ready to get bigger. only reason i noticed it was cause i recently did seafoam, glad i caught it before it got worse.
header is off and should be re-welded tomorrow morning.
if i have time ill get the cutout slapped on after re-installation.
What brand header is that?
its an XS. similar to a hotshot copy.
got it re-welded today at scruggs.
re-wrapped it this afternoon.
- decided to do some light cleaning on the head while it was out

header back on

i also did a handful or rewiring/unwiring/wire tucking. didnt get pics yet, looks good tho, ive had way too much shit goin on around there for too long. ill post some up tomorrow or the next day.
lesson learned. dont cheap out on things that arent cheap in the first place. it was the last piece that i purchased and the only thing that i let myself cheap out on. 225-250+ for other gauges just seemed ridiculous and 115 sounded reasonable, though i knew i wasnt getting the security.
drove around and heard a thump. pulled over and found my sending unit for the glowshift busted open (and smacked my hood, thus the thump). oddly enough, there was no leak in the system (i didnt lose pressure) so its beyond me as to why it busted off with such a force. only explanation i can think of is that maybe it got too hot? idk. power is run from the battery as directed, fuse is still good and has a good ground.
anyway, called glowshift and they’ve sent me out another sending unit today.
pics:
if it happens again ill be tossing this and getting something a little more reliable
cutout is installed. f*cking ecstatic.
heres the shitty phone vid. it backfires like crazy but the phone doesnt capture it.
enjoy if you can.
That’s quite a sound difference
