Steve, I think he’s talking about borrowing a helmet for drivers school, not an autoX.
As with most autoX’s, there are usually some helmets there to use that are owned by the club hosting the event.

do you need door panels?
you can run your car pretty much how ever you would like. but…depending on what in your car (or in this case, not in your car), this determines what class you will run.
habib should be able to give an answer on this one pretty easily. if i had to guess, i would say interior removal would put you in SM.
Nope, it does put you into a higher class but if your just going out to get your feet wet don’t worry about it. Go for the fun factor and to test your car out. The NHSCC school on the 5th won’t have any classing, but the 6th will be a normal event with classes. Classing isn’t a big deal I can help anyone figure out where they need to go.
The important things to remember are to make sure the car is inspected (since NP is public property all of the cars must be inspected, at places like beaverun this doesn’t matter). That there isn’t anything questionable (leaks, smokes a ton, sticks instead of moving smoothly, etc) in your engine bay. Make sure your battery is really secure, there is going to be alot of force on it and the tighter its secured the better. And finally your licence & a helmet if you have one. Any other questions fire away!
Habib88, ambassador for all things autox!
thanks, I still need a few things before its inspectable, and the 5th is so close! so i dont know if i can make it with the hatch, but would a cracked sunroof fly?
I thought the North Park auto-x didn’t offer helmets? I read that they offer them at BeaveRun, but not at NP.
As Chris taught me, remember that an Autox will find all of the things that are not quite right with your car. If something is “about the go” it needs to be replaced or taken care of before you hit the track.
Meh, just trying to help…get more people addicted Now back to answering stuff.
Atreyu - How cracked is the roof? Like just a crack going across it? Or is the thing spider webbed and in danger of falling on you? If its just a little crack and your car has current inspection I don’t think they can do to much. Don’t sweat missing the 5th, there are events damn near every weekend from here on out. But making the 5th is a good start.
Fiji Mazda - Yea just recently I found out they are trying to get some extra helmets to the event. Mostly spares from local members. However I wouldn’t bank on that too much. Besides its always much better to bring one with you rather than share it with other drivers.
Dave - Yup lol. In the grand scheme of things stuff doesn’t break to often at autox. But if you have a wheel bearing, ball joint, alternator, etc thats thinking about retirement, you’ll definitely know about it sooner if you autox. For instance I think on Sunday the 6th I’m bringing my new RSX-S out to see if anything feels like falling off the car :scared: The civic will be out for the school though, its better for ride alongs and teaching people.
RSX-S!!! nice
hondafanboi
what fell off the car already? just curious as i have a type S as well…
Thats right you have one too. No nothing fell off I was just making a joke of it. Honestly I really like it so far. I dunno how good it will be for autox, but for a daily driver its working out great. I just wanna try it out once to see what its like.
the top pane is pretty much spiderwebed to shit, the bottom pane is solid though. I guess i could always just run the fit.
dude, I don’t know you, but run the fit. Habib has talked about it being an HS challenger since it came out and I would kind of like to see one in action. Not a car that I think I’ve seen compete at North Park yet. Well, that’s my vote anyway.
well thats good to know. i was hoping things weren’t falling off quite yet.
i like mine because it seems to be a good compromise of handling and performance for the street. my integra is too stiff to be used as a DD, but i love the way it handles.
just like you, i wouldn’t mind seeing what a completely stock type S would do on an autoX course. i’m guessing your car might go around the course a little quicker than mine, lol.
my buddy nick raced his fit at the last autoX last year for NHSCC. he actually did really well for it being a completely stock car (aside from 17" wheels).
Yea I did notice the backend of mine seems to skip over bumps under hard cornering. I heard the rear suspension on the RSX has some funky travel issues if you modify them. But I’m keeping mine stock, and it doesn’t seem to do so bad on its own. Soaks up bumps nicely and can take a turn without getting out of shape, exactly what I want it to do.
To get back to what Chris said about the Fit, I still think its not a half bad autox car. The fuel tank in the center keeps the weight centered, lets the car rotate and transition a little faster. Also the Fit has fairly quick steering which helps also.
the compressed rear suspension can be troublesome over bumps whether its been modified or not. i’ve heard the same is true for the new Si as well. changing the ride height can be a b*tch due to the way the suspension is setup both front and rear.
fortunately i will be keeping mine completely stock as well for as long as the warranty lasts. that’s sad too because i bought the comptech rear sway/tie bar kit for it and the kit will sit in the box until the warranty goes…in 2012. only thing i’m going to get for it is some nice summer wheels and tires.
If I do end up running it, it will be completely stock, execept i might try and run the 16in rotas with i think p zeros from my hatch
the countdown is on, i just hope my tires get here on time i’ve got some nasty camber wear.
i hope you fix your camber issue before putting on some new tires.
